spudgun:I don't see too much hate on the 992 around here?
....which is a good thing because "hate" in context with a car is just ridiculous IMHO. There is no such thing as a car design matching the taste of 100% of the audience 100% of the time (probably would be a very boring car then...) and I think it's normal for a forum like RT to discuss subjective likes and dislikes regarding any design elements of a new model but I am very happy that RT is not frequented by "haters" (or blind fanboys at the other end of the scale..)

Well said!

spudgun:I don't see too much hate on the 992 around here? Some don't like some design details or the possible weight increase, same as old...
Not convinced by the rear treatment but very interested to see the 992 IRL myself!
I even made an typo and wrote reenlist instead of rennlist. Not our rennteam... But, you apparently missed that.
I am not member at RL but, I read it from time to time.

@KresoF1 - is the timing for the Turbo S still end of 2019?

Leawood911:We don’t want a 964 reboot but we also seem to not like a Panamara look a like which keeps growing in size and weight. I don’t think anyone hates it and it will of course be the fastest and best selling 911. Also the most expensive.
Agree on all points. While the 992 will be a great car, will it be a great 911? It seems with each passing generation, the 911 becomes more anodyne and only the GT series follows the true 911 lineage, until the Carrera T. So there is still hope. One troubling aspect that few have written about here is that the sports car demographics have changed considerably with older males constituting much of the market; younger affluent tend toward crossovers instead. So, even as this market persists, an aging population demands more creature comforts too.

Press and web intro wise yes.

Sad picture - Autobahn crash today. According to the news a BMW X5 driver pushed the Porsche into the guardrail while being overtaken (maybe a typical blind spot thing). Most important though is nobody was hurt. What I found strange is that the article mentioned a damage of 128 kEUR: very unusual to mention such an exact number....maybe indicative for the german pricetag for a 992 Carrera S ?

Probably the 911 was coming up fast in the passing lane and the BMW X5 decided to pull out last minute without checking mirror.
I had a few of those moments on the autobahn. I always flashes my high beam before approaching to let someone who was thinking about passing know I am coming. (You drive enough you will know who are those. Easy to spot. They are driving on the right lane or middle lane and also coming up on slower traffic, simple calculations will show he might pull out around the time you pass him) Especially when the road is most empty except for a few cars. And when it's crowded I don't attempt higher speed passes, it will be too chaotic and dangerous.
Never take the press serious when they write about the value of crashed cars, those guys usually have no clue about cars. They see ‘Porsche 911’ and start googling. My girlfriend once arrived in my 997.2 for an interview and they stated that she arrived in an 200k € sportscar

Porsche, separates Le Mans from Le Boys

Whoopsy:I was JUST notified.
There is something truly special coming out on Wednesday Nov 28th at the LA Autoshow!
hhhhhm, let me guess.....the notification has written "strictly confidential" on it and a number of 200 is mentioned ?

Gauss:I think he might have been ironic. The special is just the 992
Hopefully I’m wrong.
Buddy, you are wrong for sure as Whoopsie did mention the 28th Nov as the presentation day - 992 will be presented on 27th (today!) One could say that Porsche is going backwards in time: 992 presented today and tomorrow something based on a 991 derivate (enough said ) BjoernB was mentioning red wheels....good idea

Guest:128k EUR would represent a substantial price increase, no?
....the crashed car certainly is equipped with some options but as mentioned you'll never know where the press gets their numbers from.

Yes, the article suggests exactly this would have happened. And yes, if you drive enough and fast on the Autobahn you develop a seventh sense for those "specialists". But even with this sense on alert sometimes you still have to rely on these great Porsche brakes..
