Believe it or not, the initial 'interest' registration only has around 700 people. They whittle that down a bit and then send out application forms to serious parties asking for their history with Porsche and stuff.
Hope you get it Nick. Then you have a fantastic car at the same time you know the only member of RT that declined the car (me)👍😂😂.
I had a discussion with my insurance company last week. They said that they couldn’t insure a car as expensive as the GT2. I pointed out that they actually are the company responsible for the Porsche brand insurance promoded by Porsche Sweden. Got back to me today to let me know that they would make a expetion for my car. With a hefty premium, I can tell you...... To be continued, I’ll take this to Porsche and get there view.
But imagine trying to get insurance for a Moby Dick.....😱😱😱
Can you get fleet insurance? In Canada anyways it is (or used to be the last time I looked) 10 cars and you insure as a group. Massively reduced costs. Whoopsy is probably there in terms of car numbers...

Im attending the Presentation on 12.12. in Woking.
Can someone tell me since when exactly (if this information is available) these dates are official or even semi-official? Would be very helpful, thank you.
12.12 is known since Nov 5, as far as I know.
Ah, OK...now this makes sense now. Thanks.

OK, a stupid question for McLaren fans and "experts": Would you buy a used MY 2013 12C Coupe with very low mileage? An old acquaintance of mine is interested in a car and this is his first McLaren. Is it reliable? Expensive to service/repair? He would get a used car warranty for it but... Thanks.

Yes, indeed. Very low mileage (3500 km or so...), was a collector's car (according to dealer). I have no clue about McLaren cars, so I cannot say if this is a good deal or not. Price seems to be OK (maybe dealer goes lower) but I can't say anything about the reliability or quality of this car, no experience with the 12C whatsoever (neighbor who owned the 12C Spider says it was a great car but... ).

My 2016 650s is very reliable - there are some issues with IRIS - DAB sometimes doesn't work.
Service cost in Stuttgart is fine, slightly higher than Porsche GT3 RS. I have extended warranty - it is expensive around 4.000 € p.a. as far as I remember. A lot of owners say you don't need the extended warranty.
I think that the 12c coupé is very affordable. A cheap entrance in McLaren world, which is for sure totally different to Porsche.

Do you know of any particular issues with the 12C? Thanks. Car would come with a two year used car warranty as far as I understood.

The only major issue from what I have heard is a gearbox seal which results in a new box (McLaren will not repair, they send them back to the manufacturer)
I think the 12Cs are great value supercars and I would definitely get that factory warranty, as is mentioned it is expensive, think its like £4800 in the UK but for sure I would want that cover.

Grant:Would you get 935 instead of or in addition to GT2 Clubsport?
That's a very good question.
I am confirmed for the GT2 CS, not yet for the 935.
They are basically the same car, but I imagine the 935 would be a tad faster around a track simply because of aero.
I had been thinking about it for a while, that I could regularly track the GT2CS while occasionally with the 935. But that sort of not my style as I prefer the cars to be driven, hard. A couple others at my track are also getting a GT2CS, so I might just as well let someone else run the the GT2CS and the 4 of us can race pretty much run the same class of cars together for club racing. There won't be a shortage of takers for the GT2CS for sure.

Isn't your GT2RS already insured as you have been driving it?
As for the 935, I don't have to worry about insurance, it's a race car, track duties only.

I used to be on fleet policy. The cars are on named driver policy so at any given point only 2 of them can be on the road as only my wife or I can drive them.
Our great socialist insurance company, which lost a billion last year, long story but basically it was over paying body shops and personal soft tissue injuries, decided to reward my perfect claim record by taking away the fleet policy, jack up the rates greatly and have me pay full price for each individual car.

I have never laugh so hard.
Before I insured all the cars year round.
Now that they jacked the premium by 42% thinking they will get more money, they are sadly mistaken. Seems like they skipped ECON 101 in college, the Supply/Demand curve doesn't work as think. Increasing the price does not always result in higher revenue.
I reward their effort by stop insuring my cars year round. I only insure them when needed. So they go from taking 80k a year in premiums from me to 15k. Yes, that's $80,000CAD a year in insurance premium, that's with my 43% full discount. They want $40k a year for the 918 alone.
The Supply/Demand curve is never wrong. Price went up demand goes down. It's very simple. Most of my friends either are doing the same thing or just insure the car in Alberta instead. We at the top end of the market accounts for a good chunk of their project revenue and now in one simply stroke it's all gone.

simple maths indeed, you raise price, you lower the demand...and some tax collection cost more than they make...
you know that these elected politicians are not necessarily genius and they all come from the same mould.
''let's take more'' to the rich... it doesn't work as they run away easily or find alternatives...
then coming back to regular Joe and drain them more because it is the easiest way to compensate the loss that happened from the stupid raise previously apply on the super rich

Not all come from he same mold. Funny thing is when we elect someone who is not like that, predictably the system you complain about tries to destroy him/her anyway they can to the extent that people launch countless personal attacks against even supporters of those trying simply to put money back into our own pockets. Just friggin awesome how this works and that so many can be under this self destructive spell blindly supporting anything the masses have been convinced to hate for little or no reason other than reverting to the less than genius policies of the politics we all know don’t work. Not talking about Trump mind you just pointing out that anyone who is not one of these entrenched politicians would suffer exactly the same endless barrage of personal attacks even if they succeed by all measures.
40k a year to insure a 918?? Crap. I spend $800 for full coverage of three cars per year. Kansas is great. Granted it is only a new Honda SUV a new Hyndai Azera and my Turbo but that is for full coverage. Less than $.75 per day per car. It helps that my daughters are not on my policy any longer.

Same here.
It is a shame for Mc Laren: They have the best performance cars but the highest depreciation.
