Re: McLaren on a winning streak

What is with all the vents and switches right over the drivers head. Looks dangerous. Did they not know the driver would be in the middle when they made the ceiling?

do love the central seating position. It should be a McLaren thing for all their cars going forward.

Re: McLaren on a winning streak

It will certainly be a special car, and it definitely looks better in video than on pictures, I suspect it's a whole different thing in person. I'm not sure yet if I like the looks or not That said I echo some here, id take a Monza over it.

Ian from McLaren told me, that they have spent much more effort in creating the spider then ever before. Hope they will excite us once again. Can't wait to sign the contract

Is that how long it will take for the LT version? Smiley

Not everyone is a fan of top-down driving.  I see people in rainy places with convert. tops up always; I see people in hot places with tops up always to enjoy AC.  In urban driving, the coupes have better sightlines to the rear (the popular roll hoop humps are particularly bad for visibility) .   To many, the coupe is a cleaner, less fussy design.  There are plenty of reasons why people might choose a coupe - that is why they provide the choice.

+1, I won't be trading my coupe I just prefer coupes, I've always felt a bit of a pretentious knob driving round with the roof down but agree that they have nailed virtually all the (other Smiley) shortcomings of convertible v coupe apart from the spider being ~45kg heavier....

Pretty much why I prefer coupes to cabrios as well: cabrios are generally are heavier, they are uglier than the coupe, if it is hot you are baking under the sun, if its cold then you freeze, if you get up to a reasonable speed the noise and turbulence is uncomfortable, I really don't like the attention you get when driving with the top down, in some cars the chasis is softer in the cabrio and the setup is often less sporty... I could go on. Out of all the times I drive in a year, I would prefer to drive open top maybe in 10... the second car I owned was an M3 Cabrio, ended up putting a hard top on it and barely ever took it off...

LT are offered in both Coupe and Spider.  675 came in both.  600 coming in Spider soon.  Same with 760 LT (Coupe and Spider coming) - 760 just a guess at final number of 720S in LT guise...

of course there was talk about what's next previously and the LT version being still years away they said that the convertible will be next for the 720 (whereas some hoped the LT will come sooner) Doerr group is usually very open ! They surely "know" more than yr average Porsche sales person

I have the road map and I am not even currently a customer. Well sort fo as I have a 600LT on order.

Which I probably cancel if I am confirmed to get a 935.

    Oops.

It's now a waiting process. Weissach will make their decision soon. Sent in the final 'application' like 3 weeks ago.

Believe it or not, the initial 'interest' registration only has around 700 people. They whittle that down a bit and then send out application forms to serious parties asking for their history with Porsche and stuff.

Would you get 935 instead of or in addition to GT2 Clubsport?

Hope you get it Nick. Then you have a fantastic car at the same time you know the only member of RT that declined the car (me)👍😂😂.

I had a discussion with my insurance company last week. They said that they couldn’t insure a car as expensive as the GT2.    I pointed out that they actually are the company responsible for the Porsche brand insurance promoded by Porsche Sweden. Got back to me today to let me know that they would make a expetion for my car. With a hefty premium, I can tell you...... To be continued, I’ll take this to Porsche and get there view.

But imagine  trying to get insurance for a Moby Dick.....😱😱😱
