Does your Cay TT use more oil than gas too?

Another 1k miles, another 1 qt of oil. It used 1 qt in the first 2k, the 1 qt per every add'l 1k until the present 5k miles. Throw in the obnoxious hesitation issue together with the fact one remote control hasn't worked worth a schit since new plus the steering wheel shake on the highway and this thing is quickly starting to look like something other than the $100k top of the line sport SUV. No wonder Porsche's customer satisfaction and reliability has plummetted since the introduction of this truck. My 01 996 has been near flawless during my four years of ownership. I have to admit the build quality and "bugs" inherent in this new product (TT Cay) was a factor in my cancelling the CGT order (also a new product). If they can't (or are unwilling) to solve the problems with this high production vehicle, I'm skeptical about their ability to do so with the lower production ones. And with the clutch and ride hieght issues (at least in the U.S.), such a fix would be nice.

PS. Have the poorly designed covers for the 12V recepticles in the back of your Cayenne both broken off too yet?

Re: Does your Cay TT use more oil than gas too?

    Nope.

I have just under 8k and haven't added anywhere near the oil you have.

    No broken 12v covers either.

Re: Does your Cay TT use more oil than gas too?

Oil consumption is pretty normal now but it has been very high for the first couple of thousand kms.
No, no broken plastic covers, interior quality seems pretty good. The only issue(s) I have is the throttle/shifting delay issue and maybe the brake performance which doesn't seem to be better after the brake disc exchange. Surprisingly, my mechanic says everything is OK but the truck brakes different than it did at the beginning. Strange situation but I'm keeping an eye on it.

Otherwise, no problems so far and 9200 km on the speedo.
Am I happy? Yes. Am I fully satisfied? No. If Porsche fixes the throttle/shifting delay problem and maybe improves my brake, I'm 100% satisfied (well, actually 99% due to the high fuel consumption ).

Re: Does your Cay TT use more oil than gas too?

I do not own a Cayenne. However, my 996TT also demonstrated a substantial appetite for oil over the first 10000km or so. Afterwards, oil consumption went down significantly. Apparently, this is typical for the Porsche TT engines.

I just had new front brakes installed in my car. I was again surprised how different they feel. Might it be the case that your brakes simply feel different as they are now broken in?

While there are several small annoyances, I think I would would be satisfied without the life threatening hesitation. The brakes are even tolerable - if sub par.

    Ben,

You made my morning with this post.

How has your dealer reacted when brought the safety issue up with them?

Have you called PCNA and made your concerns known directly to them too?

    Thanks.

Dealer's response "It's normal". If there are in fact accidents which create bodily injury as a result of this horrific (and I do mean horrific) hesitation just when you need those 450 poines you paid for, this will not be the sort of response they will want to hang their hats on in court.

Normal oil consumption is one thing; Hesitation is another

Boy are we ever in sync.

You might want to give PCNA a call for documentation sake. It took me two to three calls to PCNA before I got any movement from them. Mind you, the movement towards a resolution is mirroring the Cayenne's hesitation.

If the hesitation, on a resolution, continues I guess logging an official complaint with the NHTSA is my next documentation step. I hate parading this outside of the 'community' but it looks like I have to keep all bases covered.
