LSD and chassis - 20 mm as 997 option instead PASM?

    Hello to everybody.
Someone know if is it possible to have the LSD and lower chassis option instead of PASM??
And why PCCB is not an option also for Boxster 2.7??
    Thanks

Right now, only PASM is available, no 20 mm/LSD option.
I don't know why the PCCB isn't available for the Boxster but I suppose it has a good (technical?) reason. From a marketing point of view, it wouldn't make sense otherwise.

Re: LSD and chassis - 20 mm as 997 option instead PASM?

    Hello,

will PASM also make the 987 10 mm deeper like at the 997...

Re: LSD and chassis - 20 mm as 997 option instead PASM?

I could imagine the S-version uses the Carrera brackes like its predecessor - since the PCCB system can be fitted on the Carrera it should also work on the 987 S.

The 2.7 might use smaller brakes with different mounting points? Besides that, if you can "only" afford the std. model why would you invest 8k Euros on the brakes? This would be ridiculous!

Re: LSD and chassis - 20 mm as 997 option instead PASM?

i agree the marketing idea for PCCB only on Boxster S but I bet it will be available also for "normal" Boxster since the next restyling.

Re: LSD and chassis - 20 mm as 997 option instead PASM?

However boxster s with PCCB, Sport Chrono Pack, sport exhaust, LSD and chassis - 20 mm would beat a normal 997 Carrera and perhaps will arrive close to Carrera S (obviously on a track with a lot of corners!)

RC, in your opinion, is it worth specifying PASM on the Boxster? would you need the 19" wheels to make the best of it? I don't expect to do much on track?

Re: LSD and chassis - 20 mm as 997 option instead PASM?

Right now PASM is the best thing coming near to a real sport suspension system. Of course PASM is much sportier than the original Boxster setup and to my knowledge PASM equipped cars sit 10 mm lower too (at least ROW cars).
On the other hand, PASM equipped cars are difficult (if not impossible) to retrofit with a coilover kit/etc.
I think for mixed street/track driving, PASM is great. And people shouldn't forget one thing and I hope Boxster lovers won't "kill" me now: Porsche never made the Boxster for (track) racing and to my knowledge nothing has changed.
So I'm not really expecting a 20 mm/LSD option for the Boxster but maybe for the Boxster Coupe.
Can't say much about the 19'' wheels on the Boxster but I'd probably go for PASM with 18'' wheels. Unless somebody wants to have the PCCB. Chrono sport is definetely another option I would go for on the Boxster.

Re: LSD and chassis - 20 mm as 997 option instead PASM?

Many thanks for the advice, much appreciated. I couldn't make my mind up about the 19" wheels, but you have sorted that one as well. The only thing that put me off the sport chrono was (in my opinion anyway) the silly looking clock thingy stuck on top of the dash! Like many things Porsche, does it look better in real life? Out of interest, does it fold away?

Ref the order guide for the US 987S the option 475 says "ride height decrease of -10mm from the std suspension"

Re: LSD and chassis - 20 mm as 997 option instead PASM?

No, it does not fold away (if you are asking about the 997).

It doesn't look much better in reality and it is actually the only reason I would avoid to order the SportsChrono Package! But that's a personal preference!

Thanks for that - well I think I will go for it - if I regret it later I can always blame RC!

On my BMW (7 series) i have EDC and DD (Electronic Damper control and Dynamic Drive). It was no problem to install shorter springs from Breyton. But i don't know if the PASM has a similar construction.
