That’s a lot of ugly just to get that motor. Is see bits of 918 from the side but in a ‘pretender’ kind of way.  I’m disappointed 😔

I guess the calliper is only red, because this is a study. The real deal will follow the (ridiculous) Porsche colour scheme and won't come with those rear mirrors.

Spoke with my SA today and he advised me that the dealership my get one or two at the most. Three of the dealer 918 owners have asked for one. My SA claims that 1948 cars will be all they will produce and 918 owners have priority. In many respects I am relieved. The thought of driving a manual in this day and age makes me ill. Also, I am pretty sure the dealership was going to charge above MSRP by a considerable amount (though I'm not sure PCNA would allow it for 918 owners).

If the 918 owners are still part of the VIP group, then they are guaranteed cars.  Those typically don't come from the same allocation pool as the cars for non-VIP's.  So, if the dealership gets 1 or 2 alloacations those should be in excess of the cars earmarked for VIP's.  In other words, you should be able to get one if you're first on the non-VIP list (but I would pass like you, if they want to charge over sticker).

Grant, I raised the issue to him regarding that 918 shouldn't be included in allocations to dealers. He was adamant in stating only 1948 Speedsters will be produced and if a dealers 918 owners take all his allocations he will not receive anymore.yes

I don't want to call him a liar, but sounds possible that he's trying to apply a little pressure (and rationale for charging over sticker).

    Re: 991 Speedster

Everyone knows 1948 Speedsters will be made. That's more than 918 and 911R in total.

If using 1/3 total as the basis for calculating US allocations, which is usually the case as the US is about 1/3 of the total volume for Porsche, that's 650 cars.

US might get more than that, say round it up to 700.

At last count, the number of 918 VIPs left in the program is roughly 200. That's about a car per dealer in the USA, leaving 500 for other people.

Now each dealer is assigned different number of allocations, based on their sales history. Some bigger dealers will get more simply because they sold more cars. For some small dealers, their only Speedster allocation maybe for their sole 918 VIP. For others, they might be stuck with one Speedster allocation that no one in their area wants as they don't even have a 918 VIP. And the rest? They will get more Speedster allocations than their 918 VIPs, so they are trying to maximize their gouging of customers for the non-VIP allocations. Reality of US dealers, they lose out on having to sell to 918 VIPs at MSRP so instead of being a good dealer and sell everything at MSRP, they will make up their perceived 'lost profit' on other customers.

US dealers are the biggest flipper of cars, they hog the allocations and config them and resale them with giant mark ups, cutting out customers who prefer to get a real allocation and config the cars themselves.

    Re: 991 Speedster

There are 189 Porsche dealers in the US. Thus each dealer allocations will be extremely limited. As Nick indicated how many each get will depend on a number of factors. If your dealership is not in the top ten in sales volume getting more than one or two Speedsters would be a stretch.

BTW, my dealer got about $200,000 over MSRP on a GT2RS. But it has to sit in his showroom for six months before he can sell it. With the gold TTS, I think he got $100,000 over and it sits in the showroom waiting for the six month period to lapse.

I they had to sit on it for six months, that means the dealership is a 918 VIP customer and that's how they came by the allocation.  Dealer 918 VIPs have to take title to the car and then keep it for 6 months in order to fulfill the Dealer-918-VIP rules.

If the car were from regular allocation, they could sell it immediately upon arrival.
