Re: Official 987 - Porsche Ger. Site

Just spoken to Chapelgate - I'm down for the Feb build cycle too . Obviously these are prelim dates so could change - hey might even come forward if they do a larger initial allocation for the first couple of months like they've done with the 997.

Re: Official 987 - Porsche Ger. Site

I've advised "Porsche Centre Bournemouth" that in any event 1st March OK for me - don't really want it earlier than that - middle of winter and might as well get the "05" plate. Drive 100 mile round trip to see deviating carpet? You must be nearly as crazy as me

Re: Official 987 - Porsche Ger. Site

1 Mar is my birthday - so collection then would be excellent. If it comes in Feb I'd wait - if it comes in Jan then I'd have to think hard - don't knock winter driving with the roof down.

Our US freinds are now probably really confused about 1st March / '05' plates now

    Crazy is my middle name.....

Re: Official 987 - Porsche Ger. Site

For the benefit of non-Brit readers :-
Well it is simple really When the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency was running out of numbers for registration plates they changed the format. From March 2001, a new system was started. Plates from that date have two letters, signifying area of registration, two numbers signifying year (but see below) and then three randomly generated letters.
The numbers in 2001 were 01 from March to September when they became 51. So the "1" referred to 2001 unless it was January or February when it was 2002. In March 2002 the numbers changed to 02 and then changed to 52 in September so the "2" referred to 2002 unless it was January or February when it referred to 2003 etc etc. Can't think of any way to make it simpler

More or less - xenon lights, metallic (probably arctic silver I love cobalt but not the price), navigation, Bose, PASM, 6xCD, full leather, heated seats, rain sensor / auto mirrors, painted rear section central console, coloured wheel centres and if I've got any money left, sports seats. Open to suggestions, though.

So you've decided against PCCB then? Isn't it something like an $8,000 USD option? I wonder how many takers there will be for this on a Boxster.

Yes - will only do very occasional track days and as much as I am sure PCCB is excellent $8,000 is too expensive for me, I am afraid. Which is why I won't go for the 19" wheels, much as I would like them, as in English money I have set myself a limit of around Pounds47k - nearly double what I have ever spent on a car before or am ever likely to do again! I would be very surprised if many people take up the PCCB option on a Boxster - approx 15% of the list price of the car! Must make more sense on the 997S with its much greater performance.

I totally agree. I'm even surprised Porsche is offering such an expensive option on the Boxster. Yes, it does make more sense on the higher performance and higher priced 911.
