    Drove my car around my usual little back roads today . Had not done that since end of break in .

    This engine is just crazy . Definitely better then .1 . More alive,  so much more nervous, the responsiveness is incredible , instant .  The difference to .1 is much more then the paper 20 HP .

    Yes, the 991.2 GT3 RS engine is definitely better than the 991.1 engine, told you before that the switch is worth it. Also, it looks right now as if this really was the last n/a RS (991.2). If true, you got yourself a real treat. Smiley

    Last week some decisions were made as far as I heard and apparently it didn't involved just the Diesel but other topics as well. This is all I know. Of course this can change any time but for now, I'd say n/a cars are mostly done. I just got some information on the changes on the R8 n/a V10 engine to cope with the new WLTP stuff and the particulate filter, they had to use completely new cylinder heads to be able to keep the power (actually 10 hp more for the facelift but in reality, I'd say nothing much has changed in regards of real life performance).

    There are 4 points which make me a doubtful about whether the 992 will be anything else but NA:

    • if the 992 GT3/RS went hybrid, Porsche wouldn't start with their GT range of cars, but rather with their regular 911s first
    • there hasn't been a "final NA-edition" GT3 car yet
    • there is a spypic with what looks to be a 992 GT3 Touring and it clearly looks to be a non-turbo car
    • Walliser and Preuninger's interviews all hint that the GT3/RS continue to be NA.

    If I were the Porsche marketing team I'd hold out on that one. And after the 992 full "standard" range has been announced as not being NA then, after everyone has lost all hope, announce they're going to do one model using 100 leftover NA engines that happened to have, in a 992 body for a super limited run at a ridiculous price tag. The allocations will be gone before the announcement is over.

    Lets face the ugly truth, if they don't add another power source to the next GT3 then it will see itself lapped by the standard Carrera and no one in a "motorsport" 911 want to be lapped by a four-wheel drive 911 with sunroof and rear seats Smiley

    This, and look at aircooled prices, they are higher and higher, and nobody cares that they are slow. The last NA GT car is going to be like that.

    Not up to them I'm afraid... Of course everyone wants to see n/a cars but the challenges, especially for future emissions standards, are pretty big, so... 

    Unless the tech changes as well, new stuff can be available in a year or two, making it maybe easier possible to offer n/a cars or maybe in combination with mild hybrid tech, whatever.

    Also Porsche’s current CEO, Oliver Blume, mentioned in an interview that they wanted to offer NA in their GT3 cars for as long as they can comply with the emissions regulations.

    This is the challenge here...very complicated process. Developing high efficiency turbo engines with mild hybrids and high performance n/a engines at the same time is a challenge, even for Porsche.

    I hope the rumors are wrong, of course but it seems that VW Group has made a decision.

    Good thing is: Porsche also plans to concentrate more on traditions and sportscars than in the past, so this could be a good thing, even if I still think that their main business will be SUVs and at some point, ELVs.

    Dave and I had our usual trip to one of the Swiss Porsche Cup  race and joined in the training sessions . Always a true pleasure as you get not only to drive the track but you get also all the racing atmosphere , see the teams etc...

    This time it was  at Mugello . It is my favorite track after the Nordschliefe . Just wonderful elevation changes , a mixe of  fast and  technical corners , all set in the pretty surroundings of Tuscany . 

    I can't say it  enough . The 991.2 GT3 RS is such an achievement !!!!!! So tactile , so much feed back , sharp as a scalpel, all is emotions , from flipping the paddles , which gives you an adrenaline shot through the fingers , to turning the steering wheel which makes you think you drive a go-kart , to the sceeming of the engine, the instant response ,   and the excellent work of the suspensions . This car is all about driving pleasure . Pure as a car can be today .

    Had a go with a 991.1  GT3... in comparison the steering felt like I was driving a Carrera , so did the gear boxe .  The engine was not such a difference , except the RS pulls more . 

    The geometry I have on the car now is also pure art . Could not be better .Back spoiler to full downforce does slow me down on the straights, but then through those fast corners, it feels there is no end to grip !

    Only complained could be more power on the straights ,  there is still room for suspension improvement , breaks could be better and of course shave some weight off . 

    LOVE the car !!!!!!!! could not be happier !

    On the way back we stoped at SuperDarius' s place near Milano  . Met his big dog indecision

    He took us to the usual good local restaurant . We all had a nice car chat , and of course discussing the RT discussions Smileysmiley

    I went back through the Saint Bernard pass . Was a beautiful day  with driving close to 700 km .

    @ Porker and Bluelines  : Hope next year we can all be at a track event together .

    @ David : Nice pic . Did not know you took those !

    @ Throt :  You only live onces . What about joining Dave and I ( maybe Bluelines would also come ?? ) next year at the Ring when we do our usual event(s)  . We probably will do DN again, end of August . Registrations are usually quite early in the year  and one needs to be fast to secure a spot . Just do it !  Would be fun .

    Thanks for the invite, truly appreciated, Gnil. Would be fantastic. However,, due to past unexpected happenings the past 4 month, just over,  I now have massive responsibilities. Plus, next August I have a 3 week cruise planned. So, the next 12 months is solid for me but I really want to get over to meet you all even if I just watch you guys go around in circles because you lot will spank me, never had track experience so I will poodle around until I learn what’s what indecision..Still think I would beat blue though in his Killah indecision, no sweat..kiss...
