Are there cloudless days in Iceland?  Was there for almost 2 weeks in June, and maybe saw one partially cloudless day. Maybe Iceland landscape needs to be photoshopped?😃

The WLTP is severely affecting the Volkswagen Group in the States with few new cars available sale.  The local Audi dealer, for example, have not had any new A8s, A7s, or A6s available for sale since the beginning of summer.  It looks more like a used car lot than a new car dealership.  This is replicated at many other dealerships with most in Chicago having a few A7s available before the new models arrive.  Audi sales are currently held aloft by Q5 sales and inventory.

I like it a lot but I don't think I will get one any time soon.

Just wait and see when it is going to be on the road...everyone will notice the new car. It just has something "fresh" about it's look, it just looks different, as weird as this may sound.

I like the looks of the 992, more than those of the 991. Astonishingly also the straight line of the boot lid looks okay.
What I don't like is the interior and the fact that the car grows in size. Smiley

I highly doubt "everyone" will notice the new car. Most people (non-porschephiles) don't recognize the difference between the 997.1 and the 991. It will look fresh to us, but definitely the same to "everyone". By everyone, I assume he meant the general road-going masses. Maybe people are different in Germany, but DEFINITELY not in the US.

The perception of the new 992 will be of a completely new car, even if it is a 911, just wait and see. Smiley It looks much different, kind of, live. Difficult to explain in words.

Why does the black car have slightly different shapes exterior mirrors?  Is Porsche going for an asymmetric look or is it an artifact of a high magnification lens as the outside edge has a different profile?

I think it's an optical illusion. The black seems to be the real deal, whereas the pic of the yellow car seems to slightly  photoshopped.

"New Porsche 911 GT3 spotted testing on the Nürburgring" (Evo magazine)

    (14 September 2018)

The next-generation Porsche 911 is due to be revealed later this year, essentially making it the company’s 70th anniversary present to itself. But even though the final design of the regular 911 hasn’t yet been officially revealed, what appears to be a prototype version of the more hardcore GT3 model has already been spotted testing.

We have a relatively good idea what the next 911 will look like thanks to many thinly disguised mules being driven on the road and around the Nürburgring. As you’d expect, the look of the next Porsche 911 – the 992 generation – won’t be a huge departure from all the other 911 that have preceded it. The spy shots show it retains its familiar, rounded silhouette that stresses the car’s rear-engined layout, but the details of the new car do look neater than those on the 991.2 that it replaces.

As exciting as a new version of the 911 is, the idea of a new GT3 is even more thrilling. Our favourite recent 911s have been the Porsche Motorsport models, as they have exemplified what we love about cars and driving thanks to chassis that don’t sacrifice fun and involvement in the pursuit of grip, and the fitment of high-revving naturally aspirated engines.

The GT3 has evolved dramatically from the first, 996-generation car of 1999. That was very much a 911 that had been honed to homologate the model for GT3 racing, whereas the most recent version, the 991.2, is much more like a genuine supercar in its own right. But still every iteration has had the ability to truly captivate those who love driving.

So it’s reassuring to see what could be a 992 GT3 prototype being tested at this early stage. The clues that this is almost certainly a Porsche Motorsport car are the pair of familiar GT3 wheels fitted on the back axle and, if you peek inside, carbonfibre-backed bucket seats.

There are also two central-exit exhaust pipes sticking out of the rear bumper – a GT3 trademark since the 997 edition was revealed in 2006. Although the exhausts are no guarantee of exactly what engine will be found in the back of the next GT3, we are fairly confident the naturally aspirated 4-litre flat-six that powers the current GT3 and GT3 RS, or a slightly fettled version of it, will be used again.

As well as a lack of deeper bumpers, splitters and diffusers, this possible GT3 prototype doesn’t have a fixed rear wing. This could be because this is just an early engine-testing mule, meaning that it doesn’t require the full aerodynamic package that the final car might need, or perhaps this could be the next GT3 Touring: the subtle, wingless Porsche Motorsport 911.

It’s no secret that evo holds the 911 GT3 in very high esteem – its many victories in our own Car of the Year tests are testament to this. And as Porsche has continued to maintain that level of quality through every GT3 model so far, you’d put money on the 992 version continuing with this tradition of success.

The sound would give it away.  Why don't the people taking the pics of the car report the sound?  Is there any video of this mule?  Could it be a GTS?
