Made my final order today!!!

Today I made my final order for the Cayenne S and they start making my car in January at Leipzig plant for the February delivery.
My car will be the first Dutch Personal Specification Cayenne after the so called Showroom Introduction Specification models

Note to my Dutch salesman
Hallo Hoogenboom boys nu weten jully wie ik ben.
Wij verheugen ons op de komst van de Cayenne S

Congrats...yes, I know that "new toy" feeling pretty well and I always enjoyed it.

I ordered my 996 Turbo around 7 months before it was available back in 2000 and I couldn't sleep at night anymore until I got it.

Belated congratulations from me as well. I know you have been following Cayenne speculation and development a long time. I have not been able to place my order yet. I did get an e-mail from my dealer that says the US introduction is March 15th. I'll post a note here when I find out what this means. What's your colors/configuration?

Don't you think you're a bit late for placing an order?
As far as I heard, the first production year is completely sold out.
Introduction on march 15th means that after this date first customer cars will be available for delivery.
I don't know but maybe you want to make sure at your dealer that you get a Cayenne if you need one.

Funny: my dealer "reserved" a Cayenne Turbo for spring 2003 delivery for me. I told him that I'm not sure I'll go for it and he said no problem, he gives it to somebody else.

No navigation,have no trust in de Porsche Navi after using the PCM in my 996 Porsche
I thinking about a mobile Navi system from web page Garmin
I mobile navi I can use in every car and everywhere

I hope I'm not too late,

I have had a deposit on a Cayenne since January 2001. When the vehicle finally gets here it will be over 2 years.

I meant that the dealer is not yet able to take a final order. They have not been able to place orders for their own demos yet.

I have the official Cayenne book (167 pages) and lot of options are available for production April 2003
Our Cayenne S has the options who are available right away from the first production
I think that is the reason why we are one off the first

Could be. I am not yet aware of options beyond the types like you selected on your vehicle; which sounds great, by the way. I need to find out about the book you mentioned.

The Garmin StreetPilot III looks like a nice unit and at about 1/3 the price of PCM. I believe the Cayenne testers were using Garmin units. Screen seems a little small. What about the Alpine GPS units?

We're using the Garmin Street Pilot III for our testing. It is a nice and precise Nav system but far away from the comfort of a installed system. If you don't want to order the new PCM system (which is a pitty because the new PCM system is made by the same manufacturer of the new Mercedes COMAND system), go for a "real" Nav system, maybe with DVD movie support for your kids.
