    PCNA sold 376 997/S in 4 days

    PCNA released their August sales including the new sales figures for the 997. 376 were sold in four days including 144 997 and 232 997S.

    Every dealer ordered a Carrera and a S for the launch event--looks like these were those cars.

    doesn't make sense, but I'm just an amateur. Would think that sales means cars that were ordered, built, delivered and paid for by individuals.

    PCNA sells to dealers, not to individuals. Sales for PCNA are those to dealers. Number of cars sold means number of cars invoiced. If PCNA were to try to track the number of cars invoiced to end-users by dealers in a given period, it would involve all the dealers in the USA being relied on to report accurate raw figures every month.

    I thought the same, this is why I hesitated to post this press announcement yesterday because it seems a little bit "misleading".

    The PCNA press release clearly states "U.S. retail sales". That would mean the number of cars the dealers sold and not what PCNA delivered to its dealers.

    All manufacturers selling cars in the U.S. rely on their dealers to report retail sales to end users. The sales reports publicized are to consumers. The Factories hound the dealers to report every possible sale in order to show good results.

    Porsche today announced U.S. RETAIL SALES TO PEOPLE totaled 2,562 vehicles in August, an increase of 13 percent. Year-to-date sales were up 16 percent. The new Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S together accounted for nearly....

    Considering there are around 250 PCNA dealers, that's 1.5 cars per dealer--for a new model. Given the PR they've been doing, you'd think they would have sold more than 1.5 cars per dealer--not much to brag about in my book.
