    Re: (Photo Update) Panamera

I don't think there's anything in particular. It just serves to distort the rear. When it is removed, the rear will look slimmer.

    Re: (Photo Update) Panamera

Even before Lars997 posted this pics. I had many reasons to belive that rear lights will be positioned lower then it's on the mule . What looks like 2 pcs. of cat's eye , on Lars pics. it shows as (yellow light) turn signal . Again contrary to many , I think rr. lights will be few cms. lower then on the mule .

    Re: (Photo Update) Panamera

    No , I don't think so Misha.

The lights will be different to what we are seeing at the moment, but they will be placed in essentially the same place.

Also: Proof there is no cocoon:

    Re: (Photo Update) Panamera

I don't really care if there is a cocoon or not, but to me this photo seems to confirm there is still significant camo, even a cocoon:

    1. I do not believe the inside padding over the door is finished, leaving me the impression that the final roof line may in fact be lower and in line with the interior padding.

    2. The rear roofline as shown is clearly not final, as the roofline under the rear camo piece does not meld into the top of rear light.

    3. The rear light seems to be falsely positioned too high, since the odd reflector below is certainly not final. The final light will probably incorporate a reflector of some sort, and the light itself appears to be far too small and unfinished. This gives the impression that either the rear light will be lower, or at least bigger and therefore lower into the bumper.

I think this is all quite fun, commenting on the various mules. I cannot take any of this too seriously, particularly my own comments!

Great Job Wild Speed. Think this comes pretty close!

We will have to agree to disagree on this.

I'm not sure what you mean, but if you're referring to the little "pointy" gaps that exist, then they will be filled in by the little "pointy" sections of the rear door. It's weird, but then so is the car.

The "odd" reflector will disappear. It is only a temporary light. You can see this type of reflector on mules for other models. I don't believe the rear lights will change position.

    Re: (Photo Update) Panamera

Yes JP66 , that's what I meant , plus we can draw an analogy from 997.2 C4/C4S spy shots where 2 pcs. of 'cat's eye' turn out to be a light strip across the rear end - at a very same position . We have seen a comment that a shape of rear ligts ,on the mule , is not final but the position is . I would put this up-side-down , positioning is fake but shape is real (why would Porsche order fake lights instead of using the real one on a wrong position and thus create a deception/illusion)

    Joost,

I have encircled all points/areas that shows clearly (to me) that green car is padded all around and then 'cocooned'
My estimate is that , once 'cocoon' is remouved , real Panamera will slim down 5-10 cm on W ; H and L . Look at ground clearance below side pod - silly , will scrape on every bump . Green mule is : ugly , out of proportion and has dynamic appierance of a school-bus . Could Porsche make something like this - no way , never !!

Black car has Porsche look and stance . It's real Panamera with some (quite a few) add-on camo. It looks visably smaller and sleeker than a green one . Do you agree ? Which one looks to you as a Porsche ?

I must have 50-60 Panamera (mule) pics. om my computer and analize them daily . Lot of interestig details , like double doors or plexy pannel over wind-shield , fixed with pop-revets , double A pillar ... etc.

Two more pics. showing 'padding and cocoon' , at it's best.

    Re: (Photo Update) Panamera

I wasn't convinced by the 'cocoon' agrument, but seeing these pictures, there is certainly something funny going on with the additional cladding on the rear door.

RE: the upper part of the boot (last picture) the area circled are the lights for the numberplate and boot release, not sure if they represent a cocoon.

    Re: (Photo Update) Panamera

I see the real hatch line (yellow arrows) the rest is "cocoon padding" .

.. and that additional cladding on the rear door has to be matched with additional cladding on the rear fender ...and then it goes like that all around and over the car .

    Re: (Photo Update) Panamera

    Hope against hope....

    Re: (Photo Update) Panamera

Although the car looks very thick I'm not 100% sure about the cocoon theory since Porsche would already have taken that off now when the car is just 1-3 months away from presentation. After all you have to test the car properly without camo. And also if you look at the teaser picture for the front the shut lines matches the ones on the test mules.

    Re: (Photo Update) Panamera

    No cocoon for me!

    Re: (Photo Update) Panamera

Guys, there is not that much cladding than you think it is.

Wait and see! The most lines are the "real" lines.

    Re: (Photo Update) Panamera

    @Misha -great Job!

Still, this roof is just to high for me. As I had that car in front of me, I had to admint, that it was almost as high and width as a Mercedes R-Class which was on the other lane next to the Panamera.

    Re: (Photo Update) Panamera

With this P-shop I want to show that black part of mule/cocoon has to slim-down considerably (and it will) to fuse nicely and blend with silver front end .

    What are the measures:

    Lenghts / Width / Height / Wheelbase?

Means - at least with the Width I was right, its a bit widther than the R-Class. The hight, believe me, the car was next to each other and was seeming to be almost as hight. Maybe the idea of having a camo on the top is right? Actually I cant believe that but I have seen those car next to each other and was talking about this with my wife.

Maybe it was a lowered R-class, as they like to lower cars in Germany(?) with after-market springs.
