    Hello Friends,

    Does anybody know which function this thing has( not aerodynamically)?

    My guess is that it helps vent the lower engine compartment, keeping the oil pan cool.

    That's right! Take a look at the back of the 355: there you can see the gearbox without the box.

    That's interesting, so that's what it is on the Gallardo then.
    Although I have notived that on the Gallardo it is tilted. Weird...
    Stradale F1 is right then, the Enzo drawing could have not been possible then.
    What about the Boxster though? Gearbox behind the engine AND central exhaust? Same for the Elise actually.

    Hmmm... maybe you could have the exhaust there if there was space between the gearbox and the exhaust...?

    The F40 has also a central exhaust, but I think the whole exhaust is placed above the gearbox.

    It is, but look this picture. It was the last running prototypes as far as I know and also the final design concepts before Enzo.

    Thanks rossi. What do you think - could it be possible with the exhaust and gearbox so close to each other.

    Hmmm - not sure if an exhaust will fit in the new cars, above the gearbox. But anyway... I like the difusor back a lot - so even if it is a dummy.... it looks awful great!

    Well, that's the thing! I like this way of having the exhaust in the diffuserpanel. Like this:

    I think that could bring some problems with overheating.
    Personally I prefer the double exhaust at each corner, I don't really like the central ones.

    The 360, just like the Boxster, has a central muffler with the exhaust tipes protruding out to the side OR both to the middle. It shouldn't be a problem to convert this in terms of exhaust technology.
    If you see the picture below it is clearly visible that the muffler is placed surprisingly high in the engine compartment. I strongly assume that it is for cooling reasons also. You receive a warning in the 360 going close to redline in 6th due to the risk of catalysts overheating.

    I guess the heating is quite an issue on the 360, considering how many people installe the Challenge grille on the car!
