If you take in account, that the hardtop of the California is already lighter than the cloth top of the F430 Spider, I have no doubt that Ferrari can solve such a weight problem.

I can believe the folding top can be made lighter than the standard hard top however the issue of torsional rigidity is still present. The 430 was not designed from the ground up as an open top car like the CGT, it would therefore require additional bracing to ensure adequate stiffness. This would inevitably add weight. Since the Scuderia is already fairly stripped out it is hard to see where Ferrari will cut the wieght. Not to mention increasing safety and emissions requirements.

Well, Ferrari doesn't care that much about safety and emissions requirements, do they?
Concerning rigidity: IMO the F430 Spider is rigid enough for a convertible. It weighs about 70kg more than the berlinetta. Question now is, if they substract weight of the electrically operated soft top and replace it by a light weight barchetta style roof, how much of these 70kg they could reduce. But I think with this solution they could create a Spider version with a weight coming close to that of the Scuderia.

So they're going to engineer an entirely new CF tube chasis (not monocoque?) for an end of the line limited production scud spider? Doesn't seem likely.

When you said similar shape to the F430, I'd assume you were referring to only the fenders, right? Because I am hoping that the car's profile/silhouette will be very different than the F430 (think LP560), and that the design lines will be more angular. Can you describe more about the fenders please? Thanks...

Shin, english it's not my native language. It's very hard for me to do what you asked for. Yes, I've seen only the rear fenders and the upper back side. Some side airvents almost the same as the current F430 were there, up and down but that's hardly a surprise. I liked the back. The space between the rear window and the end of the car was wider than on the current 430 which gave me the sensation of an incorporated rear wing, fixed. Because of the wide space the 2 rear ligts made the back look really good, like a space craft. I love the classic 4 rear lights of F cars and I don't liker the "new only two" but I must say that the general "flow" of the car made me like it a lot. Of course, some idiotic details may end up destroying the shear piece of metalic beauty I saw like happened with California lower end. But it was a piece of art as far as I am concerned.

I hear it could be even earlier than expected. Prototypes have been running on tracks, as 430 with blacked out rear bonnet glass, including the one crashed by M. Schumacher.
It could be offered in 3 bodystyles : berlinetta, targa, and revived nameplate GTS for the spider.

(from Idries Noah) The idea for this car was simple, fast, aerodynamic and beautiful, while taking styling queues from Ferraris old and new. Being a mid-engine rear wheel drive, I had the freedom to give the car a really aggressive stance. Low, pointy front and Muscular rear makes it look like its ready to pounce.
I designed this car originally as a Dino concept. But the name didn't compliment the design. So I went for something more Ferrari. Ferrari F250. I think it's works well with the car. The number 250 which comes from the legendary 250 GTO.
Being a small car and very light I was thinking of a 2.5L V6 engine (250) that runs on bio-fuel.
Its not even a real ferrari design, just something this person came up with and thought it would be a good way to go for ferrari. thats the story.
