GT3 RMS failure

Hi Guys,
I have a GT3 RS. Took the car in to check an oil leak. They are ordering a new RMS kit. Apparently the new RMS kit has a new aluminium spacer to prevent another failure. This new spacer can be used on engines with engine numbers that have the last 2 digits less than 18? Has anyone had any experience with this new RMS kit?

This is off subject but did you order your car or just pay a premium? What color did you get ? Do you drive it everyday? How much do you love the car and its handling? I have a 2007 turbo and want to get the 2010 model..Just having a hard time getting on "the List"

The GT1 engine also has an RMS leak and it actually leaks all the time, particularly garage queens. I've seen a comment about it either on Excellence or Panorama.

The GT1 motor does suffer from RMS leaks, but not nearly as often as the M96/M97 motor. Hopefully, the new DFI motors will retire this issue once and for all...

One would even hope that it was in the top ten of the requirement specifications and that it had gathered enough attention in the past as to not get lost along the way...

Hi Miamiturbo,
The car is not used every day as I have other cars. However if one wanted to, they could drive it every day. The car is very compliant with regards to the suspension.

I have a 993RSCS which weighs 1120kg with no fuel. The 997 GT3RS weighs 1400kg with no fuel. The GT3 RS is quicker on both tight and big fast tracks even with the weight penalty.

I also race a 996 Cup Car and the GT3 RS is almost as fast as the Cup Car. The Cup Car weighs 1170kg with no fuel.On long straights, the GT3 RS keeps on accelerating at an almost linear pace, where the Cup Car starts to slow down.

The amazing thing about the GT3 RS is that I haven't even modified it. Just put on a set of slicks and hit the track.

Grant: It appears that the leak is actually designed in... all cars have that but it becomes an issue if they sit and the seal dries up.

Any car can have a RMS leak, so that means any other 911 variant can ocasionally have it, the problem is the high incidence in which it happend in the Carrera/Boxster engine, due to a design flaw, it seems in the crankshaft support, that made it ridiculously prone to it.
The new DFI engines in the Carrera have a totally different design with respect to that so it seems (we will see...) that it will finally (after 10 years) will make it no more prone to it than any other make or model.
