Interesting enough they were not impressed with PDK at all. The same mag praises LP560-3 e.gear for example... Strange, strange world...
Already a new model with three-wheel-drive?
But I can't see how they can put an E-gear above the PDK.

KresoF1,
some experts are not satisfied with PDK becuase in manual mode it delays the shifting after you shift the paddles at the wheel...
actually i own a C63 and had already drove the PDK... i didnt felt slow the DELAY
the C63 really has a bad delay...
but its not the case of PDK when going to the redline in 1st or 2nd you pull the paddle and almost instantly it changes the gear...
a question: someone with more experience in the PDK in manual MODE if you are in 1st or 2nd and go to redline it changes FOR YOU, only in 3rd or higher it you really not change in redline RIGHT?

in downshift is ok for automobilismo,a bit of delay in upshift yes
about lp560-4 test...they wrote it was better but not at the same level 430 scuderia superfast
i don't know if it's a special tuned press car but just imagine this car with the same power of lp560 and 458 italy...it will fly :)

It 's very simple really.

LP560-4: Italian magazine - Italian car
Same the thing with the UK magazines, Jaguar always gets very positive reviews in CAR and such, but nowhere else...

xandi911,
With the PDK in Manual mode, the gearbox never shifts gears upwards without you asking for it, i.e you will hit the rev limiter if you do not shift gears.
but in launch control mode, the gears are auto-selected
Thanks. This seems to indicate that 997.2 Turbo not only has perfect launch, but also high speed acceleration is great. Trap speed after 1000m is similar to LP560, known for pretty good high-speed acceleration.
0-250km/h is done in about 18s, 200-250km/h in 7s. Clearly faster than 997.1 TT.

I have also noticed an annoying delay when downshifting manually with the PDK (I've had my 997.2 for two weeks)
Annoying delay in downshift manually? In what mode? In Sport or Sport +??
To get the things clear Italian mag claimed delay in upshift.
0-400m speed was 203.7km/hr ~ 126mph. I think this is more realistic than the 129-130mph trap speed from the other test
Very interesting re. the shift delay. An 997.2 Turbo PDK owner reports something similar on 6speedonline. (He appears to be a seasoned veteran who "knows" cars.)

......Ride is excellent. Steering feel quite good for a 4 wheel drive car, not as sharp as the GT3 obviously, but can't really tell that the front wheels are being driven.....
....Manual shifting however is disappointing. It takes a perceptible delay between pulling the "optional at extra cost" paddles and the gear actually shifting. You have to pull the paddle at 5500 rpm if you want it to shift by 6500 rpm.

I have been driving my 997.2 S for 10,000kms, and I have never found any delay in sports mode. In fact I'm totally thrilled by the way it upshifts in Sports / Sports+ modes - a nice immediate response and a nice thump and sound just like a racing sequential manual (I can dream, can't I?!!)
First I thought it may be the new paddles as tested in the new Turbos delaying matters, but I use both buttons and the gearstick depending on how I'm driving (buttons for when I need to corner more), and using either interface, it shifts just the same.
The only issue I have with the 'box is in Sports mode, auto gearchange, down from 2nd to 1st - there is an uncomfortable jerk. This is well-documented, and different people have had differing levels of success in getting rid of this. I for 1 have learnt to modulate the throttle when I feel it's going to downshift. the wierd thing is that when I'm in manual, there is no such jerk when it downshifts on it's own (I never downshift into 1st in manual mode).
@cannga - I have NEVER found the delay as much as the poster in 6Speed, even in normal mode, when I shifts just like any other auto 'box.
Arshad, agree, no such delay experienced on my side either. In sport or Sport+, changes are immediate, going up or down the gearbox. Only drive mine in Manual, so cant comment on the auto programmes.
To correct another poster here, launch control can be activated in manual mode and you will hit the limiter in 1st, should you be caught napping. Someone told me this

Very impressive test results there, confirms what I experienced during my test drive.
