    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

    emi47:

I have an option for a 812 superfast who would be delivered in 2 months..I own right now a 488 GTB one year old and 1,700 kms.

I have to give my 488 + 170,000 euros to get the 812.Do you think is it worth?

I am also afraid of the depreciation 812 could have in 2 years...(minimum 120,000 euro)

    What do you think guys?

V12 Ferraris always take big depreciation hits, so there's no way to get around that.

Not true.  Most recent ones, sure.  But some rare recent ones and nearly all made before 2000 are doing fine or much more than fine.

Better be careful... This is only true in the bubble (which is already history, based on my market perception...). The 12 cylinder models should be expected to drop substantially in resale value. And the 812 is produced in larger numbers like the previous generations of this car Smiley

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

I think you could take a big hit with that switch, look at actual f12 prices. But obviously the 812is also a cool car!

In the end It’s only a question if you want to afford it....;-)

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

I believe different - everbody knows it's the last NA 12 Cylinder without electric aid - hence I believe it will be rather stable - but the F12 will probably go down much further....

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

It is definitely not worth it if you only drive 1700km per year...

Maybe in 50 years - but until then...

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

I would put it this way: If someone enjoys n/a engine cars and wants one of the last n/a engine Ferraris, maybe even as a collector's item (maybe...), the 812 is definitely the right choice. Paying 170k EUR for a 812, giving away the 488? Depends on how much you want the 812 and if you can easily afford it.

Personally, I think the 488 is a great car (best sounding turbo right now, also little lag compared to McLaren for example).

Have you thought about the upcoming Speciale?

New EU laws are a serious challenge, right now even Lamborghini is re-thinking their V12 strategy for the Aventador successor (next gen) as far as I heard.  A 48V system could be a solution... (don't ask me how, probably some sorts of mild hybrid).

turbo car against NA V12 ...choice is easy...

plenty of turbo to be released in the coming year including hybrids, EV and all kind of mix we don't know yet. NA is just about to die whatever the brand.

at the end it is all about the money you want to burnsmiley

    @EMI47

Apparently the 812 is sold out and strongly in demand. I'm not an Ferrari expert and not sure if this is true. But thats what one of my Ferrari affiliated friends told me. So if the car is really like this in demand I wouldn't be that much afraid o the loss in value. But if you are correct with 120.000,- € / 2 years I would strongly reconsider.

Regarding power - I think the 488 is already super fast. Not sure if I would add another 170k on top of it knowing that I have to write off 120 after 2years. There are cars out there which are doing less damage.

Also it seems, you hardly used your 488. So if you want to use the 812 in the same style that would mean 3500 km for 120.000,- € yes. Gosh - you really must love Ferrari for doing that smiley

last or not last. You need to have more of a reason buying an 812 then just saying - I own one of the last NA V12s.

Also - you can be sure, you buy that 812 and 1 year later they bring a limited version. The one which keeps the value and the one you better should have bought in the first place Smiley

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

What else are you driving?  That is as many miles as I put on in a month.  Get the V12 but drive it.

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

    280,000 euros

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

I already thought about speciale,I think is a better choice in terms of having a "limited Ferrari" and better keeping value...

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

You are right..I will use the 812 same as 488 (2000kms per year)....maybe better to go for the 488 Speciale...I Heard the 458 Speciale are keeping the value quite good...

What do you think about McLaren 720s?

Emi - why do you like to sell the 488? The car is amazing and not used enough?

Certainly, the 488 Speciale might be a keeper. It will keep it value much better. But you would need to hold on on it for a while ;)

Regarding the 720s - probably the fastest modern sports car out there. Also, very modern, due to carbon monocoque, drive train, suspensions, etc. If I would have to choose, that would be the one I would go for!

New Ferrari Supercar Teased, Will Debut On September 17

Teased in a special section of their official website that’s normally reserved for those who have at least one Prancing Horse in their collection, this new vehicle is codenamed the Ferrari F176, as per the name of the image.

However, we could be looking at a limited run supercar based on a current product, with Motor1 claiming that it might use the 812 Superfast as a starting point.

Allegedly named the Ferrari 812 Monza, it will probably adopt a different styling on the outside and in the cabin, as well as some mechanical enhancements to emphasize its limited edition stance, if that’s indeed what it is.

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

A very well connected authority on Ferraris has posted on Ferrari Chat "Expect a modern interpretation of the pontoon fendered TR." When asked why no test mules have been spotted he replied "There was, but it fooled everybody as it looked identical to a Mercedes-Benz SLR Roadster McLaren Stirling Moss. No windscreen."

That could be amazing or hideous, depending on the execution.  Hope it's the former Smiley

Yes, let's hope so. Not long to wait now. My money would be on Flavio Manzoni and his team hitting it out of the park. I wonder how many and at what price point Smiley.

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

The price is rumoured to be circa 1.2m Euros and the factory have been selecting buyers for the limited run it would appear. Not sure I agree with your assessment of the inhouse design team's output. They have added a lot of brutalist aero on the cars they have tinkered with and removed the timeless appeal that Pininfarina seemed able to create. That is ok for short run, outright performance focused models but not so great on tthe regular production models.

    Re: Ferrari 812 Superfast

Question related to the V12's, my friend has bought a Lusso and strangely the oil never exceeds 79°c. It usually operates around 72°c, even in traffic or when going flatout. Isn't that too low, perhaps a faulty thermostat? Perhaps related to that, it also creeps to 325km/h in 6th (7th it slows), unable to go quicker, whilst it should easily to 340km/h on tacho.

That does seem low. I would have the thermostat checked.

I think the LaFerrari and FXXK have been triumphs. The Pista looks fantastic. The Portofino is a huge improvement on the California T. And I have not even mentioned the TDF yet . The only real miss is the 812 Superfast where the aero blights the design - hence my choice of black for it. However, the next model cycle is when the in house Centro Stile will stamp its personality on the range and we should judge them then Smiley.
