Same here. Though I understand the reason for the car, I don't believe it fits in with the Ferrari models. The car has a feminine footprint (I suspect by design to attract women buyers) and that alone makes the car much less desirable especially for present Ferrari owners.
I have no doubt it will sell and attract new buyers but I am afraid they have tarnished the brand image by doing so.
Nick - did you ever see the reality show where KISS lead Gene Simmons surprises his wife, former Playboy Playmate Shannon Tweed ,with a Lexus SC 430 for her birthday ? She was SO gushy in appreciation ! Expect this kind of scene played out over and over now in Hollywood entertainment circles with the aptly named " California " , a safe Ferrari gift that won't have sugar daddy worrying about " m'lady" oversteering backwards through the front window of a Rodeo Drive boutique when dodging an errant jaywalker , unlike Ferrari's hairshirt CS and Scud.

the sl 65 bs is $310k so a bit more than EUR 165k but worth every $ IMO

Tough call for 430 owners like Nick; I would think that you upgrade to the Cali IF:
- you are starting to think the 430 looks dated
- the 430 ride and noise is starting to grate on you
- you find yourself cruising more than driving and wondering if a luxury/performance compromise more on the luxury side wouldn't be more appealing for the driving you really do
- you need more storage space (really...!)
BUT - you wait for the real 430 replacement if:
- the 430 handling convinces you that you could never drive a car that was not mid-engine
- the 430 performance is starting to seem a bit mundane... need a bigger shot of adrenaline
- you find yourself making sharp distinctions between Ferraris for posing and Ferraris for driving - and you know which camp you fall into
- you are starting to think the 430 looks dated
- the 430 ride and noise is starting to grate on you
- you find yourself cruising more than driving and wondering if a luxury/performance compromise more on the luxury side wouldn't be more appealing for the driving you really do
