It's like a bad plastic surgery job one on top of another these days with Porsche. What happened to the creativity team that came up with the Carrera GT?! I think they must have all been fired years ago.
I wish they would just create a new 911 from scratch with the classic shape built in and not just use the current model base to add more and more elements that just don't coordinate with each other.
Clarkson may be highly anti-Porsche but he is so right when he says Porsche design team are the laziest people in the world.

Could it be, just a thought, that we will see a 997.3 in 997 life span before 991 becomes available in 2012/2013
I think that if a 997.3 will happen,a lot of Porsche Dealer will be on fire..

With what they've been doing, Porsche has become the most profitable car manufacturer in the world, and continues to produce cars that are the benchmark against which all competitors are compared. It's hard to argue with that ongoing success.
The 996 was basically a new 911 from scratch with the classic shape - the 997 represents an evolution of that car. Porsches evolve very nicely over time IMO.

No, and there won't be one. This car is a mule for the 998. You see that little flap on the engine cover? That's a stand in for the new pop-up expandable spoiler which will provide the car with more traction, it will debut on the Panamera

The test mule's brake disks are much too small for a GT model. One has to consider that Porsche is very late with the 997 Mk.2's debut and although hard to swallow an engine- and suspension-mule based on the current model is far from surprising since the car would debut in about three years.

Woa i wonder what this thing is? They mention that the pipes fit different on this car, and that the roll cage shows extra needed strength for the new 998 chassis!
If it were a RSR version, we'd see a wing being tested. Also the brakes are way too small.
Then again, the rims are tucked in it seems when looking at the flared wheel arches...
