Nick, you mean they build the car with the plastic dash and remove it for the leather across the street? Or are you  only referring to the steering column and door panel leather?

Extended dashboard in leather means: chrono and center vents covered instead of blcak plastic, and the speakers covers and the windshield defroster plastic part.

steering column and the extended doors which are additional leather and alcantara parts are not done on the line as well.

all of this will be classic plastic parts and then moved to exclusive for replacement.

at excluisve, only a small team work and those guys will dismantle the plastic parts and replace by the leather ones, supplied by third party. my car stayed 2 months there...the supplier messed with combination of material.

Thanks for he information. My last three Porsche’s were similarly optioned and never encountered any delays. My dealer described my car as nothing more than a standard order. Oh well  live and learn. Customers that order money making options for Porsche get screwed.

Hey smart ass I have a .2GT3 to keep me happy.

What I found irritating is Porsche knew my spec's and nevertheless gave me my expected dates earlier than I anticipated. If what I ordered was a problem or would cause delays Porsche could have given me later expected dates. They didn't and incredibly moved my expected dates even further up.

As I watched posters with similar build dates for their cars being built and headed to Emden, my car which entered the body shop on July 11th didn't move. As did my dealer because he was puzzled by the delay and elevated it to PCNA and PAG. Both PAG and PCNA informed my dealer that my car will exit Zuffenhausen on July 27th and be taken to the exclusive shop. Now I realize some people ( like you) will not question Porsche in fear of offending them and instead lick their rear end, I am not that way. Porsche is not doing me any favors. I am doing Porsche a favor by giving them my business. 

Being adventurous can be risky but routine is lethal.

Nick, I had to remove contrast stitching and sports back seats in leather from my July production GT3 as there was an 8 week delay on some leather and alcantara options that my dealer informed me about back in May before my order locked. The delay included other cxx option on all GT cars though July 2018. Your dealer should’ve told you about it in case you wanted to remove it to get you car faster.

PAG went through very tough time in term of production schedule for the past few months with the GT2RS fiasco and overloading of exclusive department including all involved sub-suppliers.

many friends got their car completely canceled after first review of approval which was high $$$ spec with even more options than mine , then got back on production line but delayed then canceled again and so on . the reason is priority was given to pump cars quickly and euro car. high spec ROW is then the last position in the chain...

just be patient and you can be happy that you will actually receive a car even if you feel that you are a special customer as you gave them your business. the result is they are trying their best but it is a mess.

I have been given an expected delivery date of November 28th over two months later than I was promised. I honestly wouldn’t have cared had they just told me that from the outset. But to keep changing dates is unacceptable. Another customer from the same dealership was told his WP Gt3 RS wouldn’t arrive until December. He had leather options similar to my car. Yet he was just informed that his car will arrive in San Diego August 19th. My car remains at he factory. 

Do Europeans just accept this as normal and bend over a grab their ankles saying the car will come eventually?

Being adventurous can be risky but routine is lethal.

This being my first GT car, I would certainly like to learn from your knowledge and experience. 

The good thing is that the weather should start getting better by the time my car arrives. 

My WP GT3 RS has arrived in Switzerland  

But.... it will take around two weeks to do the last 200km due to the local transporter not being to cope with all the work 

I should  bet it at the latest on the 15th .  My 1st world problem is that on the 27th I am going to the N'Ring and my car needs to be broken in before ....

Car will be delivers without the carbon finish bonnet ( will have painted green bonnet ) . The WP one will be delivered around October . Also the steering wheel deco in carbon will be missing . No delivery time given for this at the moment . Could take many many month .

If China and the EU want to start a currency war as well, besides the trade war, I am pretty sure Trump will be happy to join.  Not going to happen, Peter... This would mean to move away from the USD in international trade and would probably hurt China and the EU more than the US.

I bet back in the days, you were anti-Reagan as well, I still remember the anti-Reagan rhetorics in the media (and even in school, my religion teacher threw me out of class because I spoke out for Reagan...), not much different of the current anti-Trump media campaign.

One of my childhood friends, he is a well known journalist in Germany, wanted to throw me out of his Facebook group because I justified Trump's actions. His boss, he is the editor in chief of one of the biggest German political magazines, told him to keep me inside since this is part of a democratic process. As you can see, you aren't the only one being emotional about Trump but I have to admit that I don't get it. For me, politics is an important part of life but nothing to be emotional about as long as it doesn't threaten my life. If you think that Trump threatens your life, you clearly have perception issues. I remember however that when Reagan was around, some people in Europe compared him with Hitler as well. As a history buff as I am, I was quite shocked but nowadays I see/read the same comparisons with Trump. There is not even a hint of similarities but of course the media always finds a way to see a connection. My journalist friend accused me of reading Breitbart because of my beliefs bit funny enough, Breitbart is something I would never really read. Same goes to crap like RT and others... I watch/read the major news outlets and just THINK. You can agree or not but unlike you and others, I'm not a sheep, I do the 1+1 myself and don't let others do that for me. Cheers.

Guys, just like watching football and yelling at the screen to get your team to win. It does not actually influence the outcome.  I prefer to watch F1 style. I enjoy the mechanical details and the tiny little strategies together with the logic and economics of the political process. I believe RC views this with the same dispassionate position. This is he only way  to view this and make sense of it. If your side it making you angry then they have run out of logic and reason. That simple. 

Back to Porsche. I wish they would screw me over with a two month wait. I have been waiting for a GT3 for 20 years. Can’t even get one.  I would even let them screw me without a kiss.

I just find it difficult to read that some members on this forum talk drama in terms of ‘I’ve been f*cked by Porsche!’ when their car is delayed for some reason. Sure, you can be mad at a dealer for lying to you but telling the world ‘you’ve been bending over with your trousers down’ is just complete misplaced.

It’s a car. Things sometimes don’t go the way you wan’t, deal with it and move on. You’ll live.

Nick, Porsche's tracking system is notoriously bad. Status updates are painfully slow or non-existent. 

If one doesn't get humans involved, all will just read what's on the screen. 

I had that first hand a few years ago with my 918, basically there was zero updates in the system. it's pretty much a daily phone call or email direct with Germany. All the while the entry in the system stays the same.

But I mean, Porsche have 2 systems, one for the dealer network to track cars, that's the horrible one, another for factory internal usage that has the real time updates. But for some reason the internal system is not updating the dealer network system. 

Also remember last year they had 'lost' my 911R on it's way back from Europe? The system show it was 'in transit' only, never got updated until the car shows up one day at the dealership, the computer screen still shows 'in transit' with no location given. 

This time with my Turbo S Exclusive, I asked for human intervention, so now I know the car will be loaded onto a boat July 31st and the expected Port of Entry time is Aug 12th. Then however long those bozos at Customs will take and another 10 days for transport from the East Coast to my dealership. 

Mine arrived this morning!!!

With what I have had to deal since late May it made me realise, yes,, it’s just a car...( I know that anyway though ) Picked mine up and then wallop, 5 days later I got the biggest punch in the stomach going. I was off RT for a bit and now my car sits with just 310 miles on the clock due to having to deal with so much shit. If wasn’t for my kid like sense of humour I wouldn’t be on here now and coping with my immediate changes.....

So Nick, you will have your ride soon and probably enjoy it even more ...

I doubt it is a deliberate showing of disrespect. Some like to talk about exercise in non related threads and it really does not bother anyone. If something gets under my skin I consider it my problem and not others. How I deal with it depends on the topic but in each case I reflect on what I can do better to avoid any negative impact or thoughts. Life is too friggin short to get upset. At any rate. Hope all is well and parts fit back into the proper respective soon.
