    I bet if someone posted this pic 2 yrs ago 9.9 out of 10 people would have said; 'it's a fake/PS, no way Porsche would come out w/ a design like that'.

    It still looks like a PS to me.

    Look at the letters on the trunk lid, it doesnt even look like they fit.

    You know looking at this picture of the 996 4S I realize it's not just because the shape of the lights was different in the 996 vs the 997 hence the new FL 997 rear lights dont look good but it's also mainly because of the bumper. The rear stripe on the 996 made sense because of the bumper line across the back, the 997 doesnt have this lined up the same way all across the back and to the sides. With the 997 the bumper line is ABOVE the rear lights. With the 996 the bumper line was straight across the back AND UNDER the rear lights and all the way around in a straight line.

    I think the only solution is to order your 997 FL C4/4S in guards red-to camouflage the stripe.

    I'm pretty sure that some aftermarket component can be put in place of the red reflector piece that can be painted body color, etc, to get back to the cleaner look. If not, I may have to 'one off' my own solution. But who knows, maybe it looks nice in person.



    to me the simplest and best way to fix it would be to replace the cover of the engine (only the bottom part of the cover) which seems identical (in size) to that of the 911 C2 (of course except for the red stripe that the C2 doesnt have)

    maybe a little bit more expensive than finding a way to cover/replace only the stripe itself. but it should definitely be of much better visual effect

    not sure this is feasible. but this is what I'll try to do. I'm planning to buy a targa 4, but want to make sure I have a solution for the red stripe disaster before spending 100k eur



    Good idea. If I can find one with some type of small wing that integrates well with the electrically driven spoiler, that would be a double-bonus.

    Now if I can just figure out what to do about that damn chrome stripe along the roofline of the Targa 4, I'd have my problems solved.

    Or Ruby red (saw it in real life and think it is a beautiful red ).

    That being said, and back on the C4 stripe etc.....anything can be fixed & personalized. (my current Turbo went straight from the dealer to the body shop ).

    On the 09 C4s....I have the 1st one in our market (deposit last fall, it will be wife's) and, I'll put a standing off out....trade anyone my C4 quad tips for a set of regular C2 tips....and I'll throw in the red strip for free, & pay shipping.
    I've never claimed to be a math wiz but......something about 4 (small) pipes and 6 cylinders has never seemed quite right to me.
