If you want truly excellent car with amazing engine order NOW. FL will feature some mechancial changes...

You refer to the switch to non GT1 engines, right?

    Just this...

According to the Porsche engine development guy (I think it was on Drivers Republic) the new FL engine is much stronger than the GT1 based engine. The new engines have nothing to do with the 997.1 engines; in other words they are not the old engines with just DI. So, if we believe him the GT1 engines that had their beginnings in the 80s are old history now and the new 2008+ engines are the future both for NA and Turbo.
It is oxymoron to say the least, to believe in the enginering of Porsche products and yet rely solely on an ancient engine.

We'll see how strong those engines are as soon as RS Tuning gets its hands on one...

IMO they must have tuned and tested them in Weissach already.

Hey Reginos you are indeed true "Die hard" Porsche fan!

Do you really belive in everything they said

Remember 7.42min Ring time by W.Rohrl in 997TT(with Cups)

Of course they will say that new engines are better. Just few remarks from my side:

-current DFI 997 engines DO NOT HAVE true dry sump
-for FL 997 TT engine(DFI) DRY SUMP is a MUST IMHO
-new 7 DT70 PDK is limited to 700Nm-that simply said means NO tuning any more. Belive me P. did almost everything to make FL 997TT a tuner nightmare...
-we are talking here about 500ps/650Nm for normal FL 997 Turbo. Boost via SC will be gone as far as I heard...

What would you expect him to say.... that the GT1 is better than the new engine???

Would very interested in the new PASM settings and whether we can upload them to pre 09 cars..

PASM/PTM has been improved, unfortunately the improvement doesn't involve a simple software update only, so the answer is: NO, sorry. I'm still trying to find out if the latest MY08 PASM/PTM software update is available for retrofit(update) but so far I heard that a control unit exchange would be involved(don't ask me why, hardware seems to be the same), so this would be too expensive.

RC what's your take on this new improved engine for the TT?

Right, thanks! I think we've just saved RC the time it takes to make a post with all of these emoticons .

Gone from PCM... BUT, it is covering large part of PDK steering wheel...

So true. Just have a look at that pic: such a mix of different colours and materials in the new interior, just too much for my taste...

I like how you can get a round centre sports steering wheel with the multi function, as before you had no choice if you wanted multi function you were stuck with the y centre, as for the colour of this interior its a weeee bit bright and in your face for me

    Re: 997 Turbo MY2009

I'm sure the new engine is better for Porsche's profit and just fine for the average buyer while the warranty is in effect.

These conditions might be given greater credence when somebody can eventually detail the manufacturing and design changes in the months ahead.

The ultimate "fun" will be to see how they hold up after 50,000 miles.

I'm not smoking anything but just wondered: what if Porsche offers a 10-year _limited_ factory warranty on the new engine?
