May I be frank? It's a great car to have no doubt.
BUT:
My main problem with the cab is it looks too "big-a**ed" with top down and too hunched over with top up. Reminds me of this odd looking Kharman Ghia cab that a kid used to have in the old neighborhood.
To be fair? There's a few visual things I don't like about the coupe too.

That's your opinion not fact, obviously if everyone felt the same way there wouldnt be a Turbo Cabriolet market. I love the way the rear looks w/ the Turbo Cab, always have even prior to the 997. It's my favorite part of the way the car looks. Especially love that wide "big-a**ed" look from behind. w/ the top down looks wider than the coupe & w/ sports cars love that wide/low look. Babys got back! LoL!
To be honest the 997 isnt a stylist's dream. The coupe especially is very VW Beetle shaped.. IMO the Cab is sexier looking than the Coupe. I just love the way it looks better. Turbo cab looks better than the Coupe top down & without a doubt is more fun. But it's not really a very sexy looking shape coupe or cab like I said if that's what you're after go Ferrari or Aston or Lambo. The Turbo Coupe is okay looking but doesnt compare looks wise to those other cars.

Cabs are awesome period loved my boxster for the fact I could put the top down when it was the perfect weather. It looks cool too, although a tad bit poseurish. Nothing wrong with that IMO cause the fun factor is cool, like having another toy when the weather is good.
That being said I love my coupe cuz its so edgy looking and purposeful. And it also looks better when you start to add aftermarket parts to it- the cab IMO looks kinda too far fetched when you start adding all the bells and whistles to it.
Can't really go wrong with either obvioubsly the cab is more money and some people don't like the soft top look to it, Im not one of them. I dont know many of the cons of owning a turbo cab cause I never had one but i know from my boxster it felt more 'loose' and less rigid.

This is a tricky decision that I have had to make in the past. My wife and loved our M3 cab for our road trips but when it gets hot you are restricted to early morning and evening (plus the ongoing interior cleaning). When it gets about zero, it's top up . This said, I really enjoyed my cab all year in Canada. No regrets. The reason I went for a 997TT coupe was because I have become more interested in tracking my car (many, if not most, tracks don't allow cabs).
Figure out your driving interests and style and just do it. Either way, enjoy!

Last year when I ordered my cab I had no hesitation in doing so, I never even toyed with getting a coupe, I think there is nothing better than top down open air driving, and personally I think they look fantastic with the top down,roll on September 1st when I will be home to pick it up

IMO You DEFINITELY made the right decision. I absolutely love my Turbo Cab.
I dont have an 09 options list (I'm sure someone here can help you w/ that though) but here is a list of the options I selected, obviously they're the options I wanted & would rec. all of them except for 2 that I could give or take - the leather interior light cover, it's unnecessary w/ a black interior since w/ the Cab you dont get any stitching & the release lever in leather for the rear seat's. Both nice but not must haves imo. But I guess it's better to have added leather & not really need it than not order it & then later want it. LoL!! Besides that I wouldnt add/change a thing about my car inside or out even now.
Congrats & now the wait! What color?

Now we can debate ragtop color.
One word: black black black. Black looks best after a few years of wear and tear.

Ragtop is black for sure. Wanted Slate Grey but heard its no longer offered in MY09. So its either Basalt black, Atlas grey (although i hear in the sun its got a purple look to it ... yuck) or Meteor. Also want to see the new blues that are coming. The Cobalt blue was kind of growing on me buts not offered either.
