One other thing-some European magazine already measured JDM GT-R on the Ring... It is unofficial since that car can not be purchased officially in Europe yet...
Time? Fastest 7.47min with Dunlops... They did THREE runs with two different drivers... With that example of GT-R 7.29min were totally impossible...

So the video showing the 7.29 time is doctored? Given that Europeans can only do the Ring in the high 7.40's is it possible for Nissan to the modify the GT-R so heavily that it would be able to do the Ring 20sec.faster?

I think not. What I believe is there is a cultural hubris at work here. The Ring has been owned by European particularly German car manufacturers and to have a company outside of Europe turn the time considerable faster is not acceptable. Thus, the innuendo's and carping about the legitimacy of the GT-R.

Europeans get over it. You were beaten at your own game.

Just this-very, very reliable European magazine that has very good Ring experience... Two drivers, both with some racing experience...

Point was to see what is possible...

Will they publish it? Chances are slim IMHO since some political issues may be involved...

Now, we will have to wait for SA Supertest...

Political issues? I think it's something different.

You can't just make assumptions about Nissans credibility based on lap times that will never be published or even those who are going to be published.A 20 second gap bewteen 2 drivers at the Nurburgring is not something unheard of.IIRC Stefan Bellof was 20 seconds faster than the 2nd fastest car in qualifying in 1983.

Anyway, even with that 7:47 the GT-R is as fast as the 599GTB and Gallardo SL. It's faster than the 997 Turbo,F430,Z06,Carrera S,R8,Mercedes CLK DTM,SLR,...

Not bad for a chubby Japanese

Well,I don't think it's "our" game. I believe the first ones that started this "Nurburgring lap times for stock cars" thing were the Japanese.

    So Nick,

    430 Scuderia
    Gallardo LP560-4
    997 GT2

    are POS

Since all three cars are way faster on normal race track(Vairano) then Godzilla but,
GT-R is way faster on the Ring

    OK...

Please, buy yourself GT-R... It is technical monster without single emotional content... After 430 maybe it is something that you need

The Scuderia was faster than the GT2 in Vairano but on the Nurburgring...

Kreso, no sense in arguing. After all, he's never right .

    I am happy

I am happy with my choices in life (cars included - lol)

    Why you guys aren't?

    No matter

    Peace!

    PS Huge LOL

Re: QR Comparison : Scud vs 997 GT2 vs LP560 vs GT

Kreso, track times are irrelevant as far as I am concerned. You know that as does everyone who visits this site. From day one, I have been saying that these various track times issued by the magazines and expert drivers are little more than "that nice but so what" at least to me.

What I am finding interesting is the depth of nationalistic feeling regarding these times. All these cars are nothing more than inanimate materials and do nothing good in this world. Nothing to get upset over and accusing people and companies of fraud and deceit.

I buy cars because they are sexy, unique, attractive and have road presence which includes performance and sound. All else is manure.

You're playing foul, Nick - red card deserved
I didn't see any nationalistic comments here so far - may I remind you that Markus and others frequently have stated (IMO with good reasons) that it is naive to blindly believe in any laptimes claimed by the factories (no matter whether Japanese, German or American) - ever heard of marketing

Re: QR Comparison : Scud vs 997 GT2 vs LP560 vs GT

Kreso, are you sure you quoted the LP560's weight correctly? It seems too light (more like Superleggera weight).

Weight is correct, 1590kg with driver.

    New car, some lighter materials...

Kreso, what about the 0-300 km/h figure? Is 34 seconds still accurate?

lambo said the LP560 is 40 lbs lighter than a standard Gallardo. the Standard Gallardo comes in at 3550 lbs withOUT the driver (the Superleggera at a tad over 3300). this is right now 3500 lbs WITH the driver making it about 200 lbs lighter than a standard Gallardo and about as light as a superleggera.

perhaps the article says something about this.

I really like how fast the LP560 is . It would be very interesting to compare it with the 599.
