    Cayman S 2009

    I've just put in a order for a Cayman S 2009 model.
    Delivery date will be February 2009.
    I will do the spec for the new car in about 3 weeks time.
    That's when my dealer expects to have the spec sheets for the 2009 model.
    2009 will have slight exterior upgrade, engine upgrade and transmission upgrade.
    will post more info once I see the spec sheets.

    Cayman S with 315-320 PS and PDK, that will be a very good deal! make sure that DI and PDK will be available from the beginning of MY09.

    I'm hopeful all will be available - I plan to do a comprehensive spec on this baby. I'm very keen to find out specifically about the PDK! And what exactly the engine upgrade will be.

    Almost certainly Direct Injection 3.4lt.
    Power = FL Carrera 3.6 (345HP) minus 30HP = 315HP

    Congratulations mlin! Why didn't you go for the 911? I mean Cayman S is a really good car, but a 911 is has always been better...

    Second generation of the Cayman S, with PDK + LSD, and 310bhp should be an insane car, it must be in the performance level of a 997 carrera without a doubt !

    Make sure you're not a victim of dealer BS - my info (from a Porsche GB owned dealership yesterday) is that the DI 987 range isn't starting production until next spring

    Hiya dreamcar. To be honest my dealer hasn't promised any specifics about the new model yet. Nothing is certain at this point, I'm just being positive...
    If all the new upgrades aren't on the first release I'll delay my order for sure.

    My dealer revealed a 'Cayman Sport' is now available for order.
    Its basically a limited edition Cayman in 997 GT3 RS colours.
    Green with black wheels etc
    Lowered suspension, sport exhaust, chrono plus package, alcantra etc all standard.
    I saw the pics on his computer.
    The UAE have only been allocated 15 units.

    Anyone else heard about this special edition Cayman?

    I think it will be a rather tasty looking model, but with no engine upgrade its ultimately a joke.

    So several sources seem to be converging on March 2009 for the official announcement of the new 987s...presumably dealers will still be able to order builds for post-announcement delivery from sometime after January or so?

    Are those who planned to order for pre-March delivery going to delay or push for a discount on the last of the pre-FL cars?

    For me the question is whether the LSD and PASM Sport are carried over. If so, its FL all the way, otherwise, I'll go for a very high spec used one - residuals are appalling here in the UK at the moment

    Cayman S Sport (as per above spec) - 240 000 dhs ($65 000).

    GT3 - 420 000 dhs ($115 000).

    More like half the price...

    To sell more cars! LE cars are usually released at the end of an existing model run so they can continue to generate interest in the 'old' model.
