    430 Scuderia Supertest

    Tomorrow issue... 7.39min...

    Re: 430 Scuderia Supertest

    New background.

    Re: 430 Scuderia Supertest

    7:39 is an excellent result, that is 16 seconds faster than the regular 430 for exactly the same test.

    Yes, but at least half of the improvement is due to tires, right?

    Still very impressive!

    What was the Sport Auto time for the 997 GT2 on similar tyres?

    Re: 430 Scuderia Supertest

    7.33min

    Re: 430 Scuderia Supertest

    I'll be happy if I can achieve 7.50min .

    Re: 430 Scuderia Supertest

    The 7.39 time has been known for some time. Is this the same test? BTW who drove the Scud for SuperAuto?

    Nick,
    Can't you see on the picture? Good old Horst von Suarma...

    ...and he likes Scuderia a lot!

    Hahaha, so true The really fast and gifted GT3 amateurs I know (and they represent max. 5% of the GT3-crowd showing up at NoS) clock laptimes 30-40 sec. slower than HvS at best - and that's after hundreds of laps under their belt.

    There was a nice "test" recently shown on German TV (DSF): average skilled sportscar driver was given a Maserati GT - first he learned the limits/handling of the car in the safe environment of the NBR GP-circuit, then he was sent to NoS (as a NoS novice).
    The offer: if you can clock a laptime of 10 minutes, the car is yours Result: 12ish... Just to put things into perspective

    To put things further in perspective on the other end, what is the best time they do during the VLN races? Say the Manthey cars?

    Proper Racecars (GT3 RSR): around 8:30
    Roadcar GT3: around 9:30

    Mind you, this is for the 24.3 km long track (NoS + GP-circuit Sprinstrecke/short circuit).

    Not sure how much time you have to subtract to arrive at the NoS-time for these cars.
    Example from a buddy who drives a BMW 330i:
    Full lap: 9:50
    GP-circuit (Sprintstrecke): 1:50
    NoS: 8:00

    Of course the Sportauto lap is not a full NoS-lap (T13-gap may be worth 7 sec or so).

    Also if you compare laptimes from previous years bear in mind that they improved the track (tarmac). Not sure what it exactly means in terms of laptimes but for example pole time for this year's 24h race was about 13 sec. faster compared to previous year. Guesstimate from experienced race drivers is about 7 sec. improvement for NoS with a potent road sportscar such as GT3. As you can see - all the laptimes on NoS are a kind of "moving target"

    Re: 430 Scuderia Supertest

    8:30 but that includes part of the GP track. so they are close to 7min for Ring lap I would venture to say

    Re: 430 Scuderia Supertest

    Here are the official results:

    NBR: 7.39
    Doettinger Hoehe: 281kph
    HHR: 1.10,3
    0-100kph: 3.6s
    0-200kph: 11.4s
    Weight (with fuel): 1400kg
    200-0kph: 125.7m
    Airtemp during test: 17*C

    Sounds realistic for the RSR - normal GT3 will be quite close to Sportauto laptimes (9:30 minus 1:40 ? minus 7 ? sec = 7:43 comparable Sportauto-lap)

    Hehehehe, you only want to have confirmation that you bought the right car

    The GT2 is a bit faster (7.33 and 1.09,7). However, the Scuderia is probably the more exciting car... Thus, both are great cars

    incredible brakes for scuderia!

    Re: 430 Scuderia Supertest

    At high speed GT2 is faster because it has 680 Nm and Ferrari 470Nm

    not quite....i always knew i had the right car. even with the carrera S. ferrari is just too flashy for my taste...

    i like to wear the labels on the inside

    Re: 430 Scuderia Supertest

    Hmm...
    I do not agree. If you want to wear labels on the inside buy Audi RS6 Avant and delete the RS6 badge.

    997 GT2 is as flashy as 430 Scuderia IMO. For example-997 GT2 in Speed Yellow is truly more flashy the Scuderia in Grigio Silverstone. At least IMHO...

    As a sportscar both are current SOTA.

    Re: 430 Scuderia Supertest

    Kreso I guess it depends where you live - where I live a GT2 is perceived as just another 911 (except for the Porschephiles of course), a Ferrari (no matter whether F430 or Scuderia) gets far more attention

    +1 most people cannot identify one 911 from the other. so they blend in far more than ferrari or lambo.

    the rs6 is understatement, agreed....but it's not a sportscar by any means. the gt2 in my opinion is really the wolf in sheeps clothing.

    nobody would ever guess it's a +200k euro car......and i like that.

    surely i get more looks in the gt2 than in my turbo. but it has more to do with colour than with anything else. the gt2 being white and the turbo being slate.

    I agree. To the uninitiated the GT2 looks like any other 911 with a wing on the back. The Ferrari turns more heads (mine included). The GT3 RS is much flashier than the GT2.

    That's indeed a major advantage of the GT2

    Re: 430 Scuderia Supertest

    If you are interested, here are the main reasons I took the Scuderia over the GT2:
    - I hate turbos;
    - I really wanted to try the 60ms gearbox;
    - I wanted to find out what do I really love more, a manual gearbox or a paddle-shifter;
    - let's not forget the SOUND, in capitals;
    - and I suspect the Scuderia will hold it's value better than a GT2.

    About people looking at me: I don't give a damn about it! Anyway I am not using the car in town, only "autobahn mode" and track. So for me that it's not an issue.

    After the first 3.000km I suspect the Scuderia it's more of a driver's car than the GT2. I say suspect because I still didn't had a chance to try the new GT2.
