    What's it for...?

    I do not want to rumour but looking at the press pictures I noticed the area in the outer corner of the air intake.

    It's the typical shape and position for the ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) sensor, any infos reg. that subject?

    I believe that is the dust cap to the forward mounted 20mm canon..but I could be wrong...

    Wouldn't Porsche have bragged for pages on end about a feature like that if it was an option on the new 911?

    My guess would be this is the (laser guided) cruise control like many luxury cars equipped nowadays...(BMW 5 etc)

    I think it's the outside air temp sensor. It's in the same location as it's been for a while but now it looks like it resides behind a contoured bump vs. a little air whistle type of thing as on my car.

    Looks very much like the lens of a microwave based ACC to me!

    I also guess its a car distance control. I have it on my CLS, and its really a great thing especially on a busy highway, but in a 911?

    Just a little bit off topic, but why does the car in the first picture have the old headlights from 997.1? the other pic posted here have the new headlights... does this have to do with the adaptive cornering lights?! Maybe the sensor mentioned in this thread has something to do with this as well

    maybe porsche had adaptive cruise control in mind, but scrapped the idea in the final product. The first pic could be a prototype

    I believe those newer headlights are optional.

    It's a slot for an optional Euro 830 fortune crystal ball which lights up in the event of an accident telling you how much your insurance premium is going to increase.
