    Le Mans GT2...

14 hours into the race and the GT3 RSRs are not doing so well. 4 or 5 F430s are on top. Another proof that PAG must get up on their toes. The same is happening in the US at the Rolex series.

Maybe the new old GT1 engine needs to be replaced by a souped-up new 997 Mk2 DFI engine.

    Re: Le Mans GT2...

2 997 GT3RSR's crashed, and the another had gear box problems hat put them 11 labs back after a pit stop to repair.

If I'm not mistaken, there are more F430's than 997GT3RSR's in he race this year, which should help Ferrari get a class win.

In a 24 hr race, luck is a big factor.

Let's not forget that last year, the 997GT3RSR did win the GT2 class.

Only 3 Porsches entered this year and 7 Ferraris.
But you could say that teams moved away from Porsche because they are not so competitive anymore.

    Re: Le Mans GT2...

Well, last year they weren't so competitive but I think the new RSRs are better than last year's car.

Well one is out and the others are running P6 and P7 now, 20+ laps behind the Risi Ferrari!

    Re: Le Mans GT2...

    Porsche needs a cayman, maybe.

    Re: Le Mans GT2...

Fortunately we still have the LMP2 RS Spyders to ease our minds

    Re: Le Mans GT2...

This years 997 is very competitive.
They are quite a bit faster than the Ferrari's and especially at Le Mans.
They were on pole, and still have the fastest lap of the race.
Unfortunately all Porsche teams had one non-professional drive in their teams, who loose a lot of time when ever they are at the wheel.
Porsche was also very unlucky right at the start (Pole sitter had to go to back of the grid) and then two hours into the race, when the two fastest Porsche's (and the 2 fastest GT2 cars) took each other out.

So. what you are saying it was down to circumstances rather than lack of competitiveness.
Well Porsche can't win every year. They have LM P2 this year.
I am very happy for Audi's win against the odds!

    Re: Le Mans GT2...

Exactly Reginos. The Flying Lizard car was hit from behind by the IMSA Matmut car. The IMSA car could not reach the pits because it lost one of its wheels during the contact. The Lizard car came in because of severe bodywork damage on all sides, a broken rear wheel, two broken radiators, and right rear suspension damage. Then later in the race Seth Neiman made contact with a tire wall so the crew is worked on radiator replacement, bumper and fender replacement/repair, and repairing the front of the under tray. After the repairs Seth went out but to come back in again as he reports there was some vibration in the car that lead to another lengthy stop as the crew maked adjustments and checked the alignment again. By this time the car dropped a significant amount of laps of the leading cars (about 37 down the leading car and 20 laps from the next position at one point). But the Lizard RSR was by far the fastest GT2 car out there.

Already been tried without the greatest success by two German teams last year in the VLN series on the Nueburgring.
