    No

Me neither. I'm sticking with manual for my sports cars until I turn 60 years old.

i've allready went to my dealer to talk about handing over my 987 boxster to order a new 997 carrera S FL. They haven't got any pricelists or info yet, though they allready knew most information that is also posted here on the forums.
Their first 997 FL will be delivered 4th of July (which is not a holiday here in Belgium ) and the will have the pricelists in the next 10 days, which they will email me.

I don't know if many members here are in EU, but i can post them for you to see ?

Price lists are awailable already at dealers over here since the 6th of june. I find it strange that you have to wait one more month for this ?

    US Allocation!

Received my allocation today here in the US. Carrera 2 September build with October delivery. There are a few people that will receive it Sept. buy not until the 20th!

    Re: US Allocation!

Doesn't that worry you? I had to wait 17 months for my 996 C4S. Residually, that was a very good news car. As you can get a new C2 within a month or so of new launch, what is there to protect used values?

spot on it's seems that it would end up being another mass produced car not good for residuals

    Re: US Allocation!

Well, the other issue (or not) is the whole model avalanche vs. what historically was apparently a planned trickle down of new models over time.
Remember 996? I seem to recall the face-lifted gt3 and rs only came out in 2004, 4S was out late 2001 from memory.

    Re: US Allocation!

When did they start to have MKI and MKII ? If i am not mistaken the 993 was only one model (1994-1998) and non of the prior ones had a facelift - it was from one model to the next after each 4-5 year period

993 was unusually short (4 yrs). 964 was 6 years, 3.2 Carrera was 6 yrs, 911SC was 6 yrs, etc...

    Re: US Allocation!

I thought 993 was 1993 to 1998 - 5 years. This was the case in UK. (I had both 1993 and 1998 cars!!) I recall the 996 felt light in comparison to 993 so kept it until my 2001 boxster.....(which was both faster and handled better)

    Re: US Allocation!

    strange migration - 993 to a boxster

you ever find yourself reminiscing over the last of the air-cooleds?

In the US, we had 993 from 95-98. I thought Europe was 94-97. I know 996 started in 98 in Europe (maybe UK was different or maybe models overlapped in 98)...

    Re: US Allocation!

    Turbo ran to 98

Interesting in US, we continued to have 993 Carreras (only S models for Coupe) in 1998, but no Turbos (maybe a couple Turbo S's, but not even sure if that's true). I guess they were splitting their production among the markets...

    Re: US Allocation!

BTW, US base price was $75,000. As far as residuals, given the dollar decline vs. the euro, having a 3% increase in the base price makes this a fantastic deal. That would be akin to 48,000 euro's. Theoretically, used Porsche's should be selling at a premium.

    Re: US Allocation!

You "pull" to up shift and "push" to down shift as it is in Motorsports...whether done with paddles, a stick or these so-called "buttons/rocker switches" which btw I don't like but I don't mind...

    Re: US Allocation!

no, u push to upshift and u pull to downshift. exactly to contrary as in motorsports...unfortunately!

    Re: US Allocation!

I have two questions about the PDK
    1) Will it be warrantied like an automatic? Since it has clutches, like a manual, will they cover the clutches with the warrany? I can see how a couple of Launch control starts may end service life very quickly. Since I would be using launch control very infrequently if I thought the warranty would not cover the clutches why spend the money? A clutch in a manual would last me the life of the car since I do not drop it at every stoplight (like I might with launch control ).
    2) The PDK shifter looks like all kinds of dust and dirt, not to mention liquids would get into it. It needs a boot to keep crap from accumulating in the large square 'open' area.

Peace and ALWAYs drive on the right side of the road (except UK, australia ...)

    Re: US Allocation!

Thanks AUM, Now I know I am afraid to drive on the right.
I appreciate the list and I hope the point I was trying to make regarding safe driving was understood anyway.
Now to my real question -
How will Porsche warranty the PDK??? Is it a clutch or an automatic type warranty? I already hear mention that 6 launch control starts void the warranty - what's with that?? Anyone have any real information (besides a list countries where everyone drives on the right side of the road, which I am eagerly anticipating)
Cheers and thanks again AUM. Peace and drive - on the non-passing side.
