Re: PDK Paddle Comp: What do you think?

Tuners will very soon offer paddles behind the stearing wheel...

HeHe..., I just realized something. All that b*tch*ing I and others here did about the Volcano Grey trim and the "excessive buttonage" (too many black buttons on a puddle of grey) might have gotten thru to Porsche. LOL.

Well, they needed the gray for the new steering wheel, so they took it away from the centre console.

Re: PDK Paddle Comp: What do you think?

What a waste of space the stick is now...

Re: PDK Paddle Comp: What do you think?

Is PDK mod friendly as the Manual (Turbo/GT2) ?

guys I love the steering wheel and pdk's button, cant imagine I am the only one who likes it....

Now, what the heck is that telephone doing there????, I thought the sim card slot was there to replace the historic piece of block, I mean telephone

seriously, I love the steering wheel and the pdk buttons ....Also I just noticed the flat shape the steering wheel has at the bottom, just like the Audi R8 etc..., the pdk gear shift also looks like the R-tronic for the R8, how interesting !!!!

I also think the new steering wheel looks great. Let's hope that the PDK puddles functions as well as it looks.

Not true entirely. You can still shift gears thru it. So it's almost like the paddle/buttons are a convenience.

BTW, I meant the Volcano Grey is apparently __gone__ from the PCM. Good move.

I don't see how it can be given the rumours that Porsche is struggling to get currently Turbo torque numbers through the new transmittion.

How PDK will handle a torque jump from 620Nm to over 800Nm for even basic aftermarket powerkits may mean you will need an aftermarket Veyron PDK upgrade with it! ...which won't be financially viable.

I'm not referring to it's looks I'm referring to the functionality of having small, thumb shift buttons on the steering wheel vs stationary paddles on the steering column. If you've ever driven a car w/ larger, stationary paddles like the ones in a F430 and also driven w/ the little thumb buttons like the Porsche tip, you know what I mean.

They really made a huge mistake doing that w/ PDK.

Yes. Although I think the option with custom PCM front looks best. Saw a factory cocoa finish on a ("old" 997) PCM in Germany lately. Obviously matching cocoa interior. Looked fantastic.

    Volcano Gray an Option

The new PCM face plate in Volcano Gray will cost you $2500 as an option so you can match it to the "Napoleonic Hat" style steering wheel with Puddle Shifters.

It's called "Napoleonic" because you can stuff your right hand inside your jacket, or if you're desperate, use it to phone your yoga teacher in Portland, since you only need one hand to puddle shift.

    Little Weenie Ferrari

OTOH, if you get a Ferrari you get this little weenie shift lever (circled in red) but notice the nice paddles.

At least PDK by Porsche has a man-sized shift lever:

(just kidding..., having some fun..., no offense )

    Re: Little Weenie Ferrari

They say there's a little truth in everything! I love Ferraris even more than Porsches, but that little weenie lever is kind of a joke IMHO. Don't get me wrong though - I wouldn't kick the F430 out of bed for eating crackers . . .

Not quite right. The ridiculous T-lever is back from the old days, first and second generation of Ferrari's F1-system.

    Today they look like this:

    Re: Little Weenie Ferrari

Was out in the 430 all weekend & now I'm going through withdrawal.

    Re: Little Weenie Ferrari

This is what that parking lot looked like btw. Every Sunday down by Captree.

How were you able to fit in there in your 430 with all the antiques on display
