Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

THE driver of a Bugatti Veyron supercar was nicked by cops after racing a Ferrari on a motorway at 130mph

    full story here!
    http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article1238834.ece

According to witnesses, A pair of racing supercars were achieving speeds of up to 130 mph - even through 50mph roadworks zones on the M27. The Bugatti Veyron driver was eventually caught, but the owner of Ferrari 599 GTB managed to disappear off into the distance. A lack of rear license plate helped the driver to escape a conviction.

Re: Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

    another pic!

Re: Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

Clearly they are friends and were just mucking around. If they were racing for real, the Veyron would have long gone and they wouldn't be doing 130mph which is pretty pedestrian in these cars on a motorway!

Re: Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

    yup, 130MPH is very pedistrian.

×2. Even a VW Golf can easily do 130 mph nowadays and these Brits are treating it as if it were some crazy terminal velocity .

Re: Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

:S In switzerland is even worse....

Re: Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

    NO plates FTW!
    :

Re: Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

130 mph is like crawling for for the 599...

... and like standstill for the Veyron.

Re: Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

Yes, 130 mph or a little below that (around 190 - 200 kmh) is something like the built-in cruising speed of any car today with a three-liter engine, regardless of diesel or gasoline. The Ferrari and Bugatti must be just clearing their throats at this speed.

Re: Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

Yes the speed is slow, but is almost twice the UK speed limit. Add the lack of license plates and the owners will have to cough up a bit of green for a good lawyer, which I assume they have already.

You'd have thought the owners would have had enough cash to hire an airstrip to play on rather than risk innocent people's lives......??

Re: Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

Heard the car belongs to Earl

Re: Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

I wonder if the Bugatti driver will get a bit of a break if he snitches on his friend in the Ferrari

Re: Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

stupid cops, they should just fight some crime. 130 is legal in other countries LOL

Re: Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

lol, the bugatti got caught and the ferrari got away, how ironic.

The BV owner should visit "Q" and ask him to fit a number plate rotating contraption for future use

Re: Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

I just watched a local show here in the UK about traffic police chasing people.

There was this one kid who had stolen his mothers old crappy Nova and was driving like a maniac (crashing every mile or so) and was drugged up and had no insurance. He destroyed the car even before he ended up driving into a metal fence. All through residential streets.

He got 12 month driving ban and Pounds250 fine.

Recently a guy in a 997 Turbo was caught doing 172 mph in a 70mph carriage way late at night. He got 10 weeks in jail, and a 3 year ban.

Nowhere near as dangerous as what I just saw on TV yet a huge difference in sentencing!!

Point in case! I got 3 points and Pounds60 fine for doing 72 in a 60 - this is the same "reward" the Veyron driver got for doing 130 in a 70!

    130 is what witnesses said.

The police official caught the veyron at 97... in which case 3 points and 60 quid fine would be quite common.

It seems suspicious though.. since 100 would be the borderline for a ban and bigger points/fine - the cops probably let him off with the 3 points if he let him sit in the veyron or something

Re: Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

My father got a 15 000eur fine about eight years ago for doing 70 in a 40km/h zone (school zone at midnight on the weekend). Winner?

He did manage to get it down to about 500 as the income that was based on was a one-time thing. Gotta love this socialist country...

    Let me guess... Finlandia?

Re: Bugatti & Ferrari in 130mph race

Why bother messing with Veyron in a 599. It will eat the 599 up. 599 can't even beat the SLR or CGT

Yup. We've had a "right" wing government for a couple of years now. Too bad that it's just as socialist as the previous one....

Anyone need a recently graduated (last week's monday!) M.Sc. (SW Business) in a non-socialist country?

I would tell you to come here, but the problem is that our leaders' goal apparently is to model the Scandinavian countries .
