Same goes for all the interior parts in aluminium trim. I don't mind that too much on interior trim parts, but what most disappointed me was the inserts on the 991 steering wheel. For the price you pay for these kind of cars, is it asking too much for some decent materials? Especially the ones you come in direct touch with; you can fool the eye, but you can instantly feel that it is plastic when you touch it.

Comparing the interior of my former 996 Carrera (first water cooled 911) with my current 991.2 Carrera GTS Convertible, it is like comparing the interior quality of a Lada with a Mercedes S class. No kidding. It was sooooo bad... 
Plastic everywhere, bad quality plastic, bad smelling plastic and it felt weird as well (haptics).

It’s not just the plastic on the steering wheel but also the “cheap” feeling turn signal levers. I hate them. They feel like they could break off any minute.

Yeah, I get what you mean. But to be honest, I have never driven any car where I felt that the turn signal levers were confidence inspiring. (Admitted, being a "poor maan", I almost exclusively drive poor man's cars :-/ )

In Ferrari and Lamborghinis they did away with the stalk, nothing to break off

i actually liked the Huracan method (turn signals, etc. in the steering wheel) quite a lot, didn't expect that. Needs some getting used to though.

Turn signal in 90’s BMW felt pretty decent (like they wouldn’t break off)

I'm sure this is for your safety - imagine if a Swede (or Canadian!) got in his Porsche at -30C some winter day, and accidentally licked his steering wheel trim....

I think you are talking about the Fins. The Canadians just huddle together and drink beer while watching some idiotic tourists do that. And the Swedes? They are busy with their twins to even think about doing those things.

That was the reason for me to change the silver inserts to the black-GT3 inserts on my T.
NOT an easy DIY-job...

Did you have to take the steering wheel off? Disconnect the battery and so on?
I one change the steering wheel on the Boxster and it was a bit of effort getting airbag and cabling right.

Ok, this info is from my side taken with grin of salt but...
I would think this would make it more socially responsible and desirable. The over powered polluting version will be worthless on the used car market. Can’t wait to see the 992 Econ numbers. (Do I need a sarcasm warning at this point with you guys?)

Already heard talks from mechanics of another brand and they said not filter out, but empty the filter
When I had my first catalyst car , a golf GTI , it is what we did , just emptied the thing , back where my lost 10 HP
