    question for drag racers

    I was tricked into a couple of impromptu 1/8 mile runs at the local strip tonight and my best run on 95 octane mix and a full tank was 7.6s at 101mph. The vehicle reaction time was a mediocre 1.1s.
    Does that mean that the car went from 0-101mph in 7.6s or 6.5s?, I did not have the pbox with me to check.
    0-60ft was 1.96.

    I used to NHRA drag race back in the day, the reaction time is the time it takes from the green light coming down until you cross the starting lights. You ran a 7.6, even if your reaction time was 5 minutes, it's still a 7.6.
    A good reaction time in a modified production car would be .05 or there abouts.

    Thanks for the clarification, the 1.9s 60 ft time must then reflect the spinning I encountered in most of 1st gear and some of second gear. PSM was off and could not avoid the water box. It was fun anyway and my first time ever on a drag strip and I got a better trap speed than the winners of both the modified and pro street classes (97mph).
    Need to put my hoosiers on next time

    So I put the Hoosiers on and went back to the 1/8 mile track but took the wife and kids too. Ran a 7.31s at 101 mph (gear shift at 100mph), taking care of a C6 vette with nitrous and a modded skyline GTR (7.6s and 7.5s respectively). Then we all went to dinner in that same car, I love it .
