Well said, I would just add that using/not using it as a daily driver depends heavily on the quality of the roads in your area. The overused phrase "it is what it is" naturally springs to mind in this case. I envy you if your roads are such that allow you to freely use the car all the time!

Race engines have much shorter lifetimes due to performance being stretched to the outer limit. I mean look at the hp/liter/rev limit!

Thats why race engines have their lifetimes measured in hours operated whereas street cars use mileage.

The 997 GT3 is fast enough to be enjoyed at the Ring for amateur tracking where it provides more fun and satisfaction than any car with equal or better performance, and challenges trackers to refine and improve their near-the-limit skills. The 997 GT3 is also a viable DD.

The 997GT3 is the best 911 ever IMHO and it shows that Porsche can still make a perfect road and track car that is ready to race or go cruising right out of the box. There is no substitute for the 997 GT3.

I assume all of the guys on this page who are disappointed by the car actually owned or have at least driven one.

Having owned the car for 18 months I would not call it a disappointment. The fact I can listen to music and have a degree of comfort while chasing down cars cars on the Ring is not a bad thing. Makes the trip home that more enjoyable... As for the engine it is a jewel...

Moogle, come to think of it, even the 8400 limit in the street car is pretty special considering that it has no preset lifetime. (possibly 300 thousand km as per the ceramic brakes?)-with maintenance, of course.
Makes you wonder also about the exact same rev limits in the RS4 and the M3. Maybe there is some hidden engineering rule, similar to BMW's 500cc-per-cylinder mantra.

TEE, as for the music, you must have it turned on to the max, because once you start the engine, you can't hear half of the frequencies from the radio and any tune becomes background noise. I have the audio plus, but only for listening to CD's when relaxing with a picollo at the petrol stations.
