Re: AMG GT-C surprise addition to my garage
JR-550:Time for an update, in the mean time I have finished my running of the engine (pfff long time). The car really feels a bit like a mid engine car. I know the weight is almost 50/50 etc but stil because of massif engine in front your mind wants to tell you something different. I love to drive the car in R (race mode) because of throttle response and sound. The loud bangs in exhaust at upshifting makes you fell like driving a race car. But in the R mode the big difference with 911 Turbo and specially the R8 shows. In the R8 (race mode) and AMG GT (R-mode) the traction control is switch partially off. Accelerating out of a corner the AMG GT gets a bit tricky here; the pure traction is much less compared to the R8. This less traction makes it fun too drifting is easier and lower speeds. In pure exhaust sound I would still rate the R8 better, a NA is still the best. As far as I have been able, form driving on public roads, the 911 Turbo is still the easiest car to drive at high cornering speeds. Later this year I will be able to drive both the R8 and the AMG GT on the SPA racing track I will be albe to give a betere comparison of the both cars. All in all the AMG GT is a great car very nice and solid finish! The only problem I have is my wife like it a lot so the garage is sometimes empty .
I am curious - why do you think your wife likes this car, which most would see as a very “masculine” sports car compared to many others?
