Should be high revving engines with mild hybrids, throttle response is rumored to be sensational for a turbo.

What good for is a sensational throttle response (for a turbo), if you have at least two cylinders too little? Smiley

    Hi Rossi ,

Do you believe the 1000bhp F173 rumor ?

Seems they want to compete with the Mclaren Senna ..

    Re: 488 Replacement

    Hi Jeantet,

I heard that rumour as well.

Senna has 800hp, Larifari had 963hp, so I guess the F173 will fill somewhere in between. Something like 900hp seems about right to me, but that‘s just my speculation.

The HP madness has to end soon. I have 520hp and rarely can I use full throttle. Car enthusiast are going to wake up and say to themselves "Why am I paying for something I cannot use?" Also, for DD the torque and hp will be of little use especially against the new EV cars. They will spank the NA easily. What's left?yes

It will end with Euro 7 in Europe... Smiley HP will drop by at least 1/3. Smiley At least these are the predictions from "experts".

Of course EV manufacturers will take care of this, with new EV power monsters. I can easily see 1000 hp and more EVs after a while, this will be a real challenge for road safety and driver skills. You'll see...once battery tech revolutionizes, we are going to see insane power and performance figures and not only in super expensive hyper cars.

This is actually the "bad" thing about EVs: There is no direct CO2, NOx, etc. output, so manufacturers can actually put a 2000 hp EV on the road and nobody (environmental groups, government, whatever) gives a f.ck.. This is the beauty of electricity...it comes out of the socket Smiley and most people don't ask how it was produced. Smiley

I can't wait until they start the permanent speed limit in Germany. It is well time for it. How stupid those private races on public roads. And please - don't even start about "Saturday morning at 6h the streets are empty and it would make sense to go faster" Yes - maybe, but think of 90% of all the other times when people chasing each other and putting innocent drivers into risk. On top of it, it causes delays and traffic jams.

Whenever I drive in Switzerland I have an average speed of 110 - this after 3 hours on the highway. When I go 3 hours in Germany I'm happy to achieve an average of 90km/h. This after speeding and racing.

Driving fast might be fast but hey - do it like the Americans, do it on the race track.

No speed limit in Germany...unless the car manufacturers push for it (which could happen once EVs are "pushed"...could take another 3-5 years though).

The Autobahn is the road with the smallest number of accidents, I really don't understand why you would say that. Smiley The biggest problem on the German Autobahn is not the speed limit but those idiots who pass on the right because they don't have a clue about German traffic laws. Also those who keep driving on the left lane, provoking those in their rear to keep too short of a distance, thus causing "rear-endings" (collisions).

Those "public races" on public roads usually happen in cities and on deserted country roads, both very dangerous and highly illegal. Not on the Autobahn though. Smiley

I don't agree, I dread driving in Switzerland, aside from the scenery it is so mind numbingly boring. The only thing that keeps your mind busy is the constant scanning for speed limits and camera's. No give my the autobahn and its traffic jams any day of the week.

    Re: 488 Replacement

@Porker / @RC - I say that because it is just tiring to have this stop and go on German Highways. Driving at various speeds just jams up. People are racing and it is exhausting. On top of it, I move slower than in a country with speed limit. Speed limit relaxes and takes aggressions. Yes - it might be boring, but that's the moment where you enjoy autonomous driving.

Let's look like this onto it: Autobahn is just a road to move conveniently from A to B. If I want to have fun, I rather go on the curvy roads into the mountains or on a race track. Streets are in general not build for fun, it is to connect cities and towns - we should always keep this in mind.

    Re: 488 Replacement

Unfortunately it is proven that reducing speed on the highways from 120km/h to 80 km/h when there is lots of traffics avoids jams and reduces driving time between point A and B . Not fun, but efficient and probably the only way to go to keep fluid traffic and efficiency .

It will make autonomous driving that much more attractive smiley

Replacement or facelift? 720 hp in the facelift would put even more pressure on Porsche and Lamborghini.

Actually, it is going to be interesting what power figure we are going to see for the 992 Turbo S. A couple of months ago, I heard something around 620 (with mild hybridization) but I'm not sure 620 would be competitive.

488 replacement: turbo, 720ps, no KERS, styling between pista and 488. very very fast. rear wheel drive of course. Genève presentation.
