    Re: Tesla Roadster

Tesla will cut 9% of its workforce in order to try to be profitable this year, all non production jobs:

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-06-12/tesla-cutting-about-9-of-workers-on-musk-s-profitability-push

Again, If Tesla delivers all the things they have hinted, and that’s a big if, a massive short squeeze could happen, if it hasn’t already started. Forget any usual value or any ratio, shorts have to buy back one day, there is no way around it, unlike longs, and short sellers have to bring more cash to keep their position open, unlike longs without leverage.

Need to walk up the share price before the 2018 Solarcity debt issuance comes due.  The share price must be greater than $560.00 to convert into common.

funny how Tesla stock reacts to news.

    Elon speaks, promise something.

    Stock went up crazy.

Then people realized how stupid they are and start dumping.

    Stock goes down.

Elon Speaks again and promise something.

    Stock went up crazy again.

People realized they are stupid again and start dumping.

    Stock goes down again.

Elon speaks again and drive up stock prices again.

Elon has a duty to drive up prices of Tesla because of the convertible bonds, they simply don't have the cash to pay off the debt.

The cost of the refi is high too as the company paddles along in junk bond territory.

Please reread Musk’s email to the Tesla minions as he writes conflicting statements.  He talks about reducing headcount to become profitable but also writes that profits were never a motivation for the company?  Which is it?

No doubt that the short sellers will do everything in their power to put Tesla in bad light. Lot's of nasty examples "out there".

Yes, Elon talks a good game but he is also an innovator and visionary. Not for the faint hearted though I must admit. Shorting Tesla scary stuff.

What does this have to do with the contradictory statements made in Musk’s own email to Tesla’s employees?

However, if a stock plummets, a stop-lose does little to stem the loss, since all it does is start the sell process, not the sell price.

Where did I say that it had to do with the email to employees?

But speaking of that. I think it makes perfect sense and not sure what the contradiction is? Actually it is in line with what has been communicated ever since Teslas journey started. All companies growing at that speed will employ with redundancy and now is a good time to move to a more efficient and streamlined organization. This is not new either since Elon communicated this already at the Q1 call.

Off course Tesla needs to be profitable to continue their business and we all know that the coming year is critical and sort of make it or break it. The past 15 years has not been that in the same way.

"Given that Tesla has never made an annual profit in the almost 15 years since we have existed, profit is obviously not what motivates us. What drives us is our mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable, clean energy, but we will never achieve that mission unless we eventually demonstrate that we can be sustainably profitable. That is a valid and fair criticism of Tesla’s history to date."

Do you live in a black and white world? Why do you have to pound on every single thing that is not even an issue to start with? Again, you seem to have an agenda despite your denial... that’s just how it looks, sorry...

Profits are not a motivation so they HAVE to just completely ignore the economics? Sorry but your post does not make sense.

BTW this was the full quote and not the part you chose to focus on:

”Given that Tesla has never made an annual profit in the almost 15 years since we have existed, profit is obviously not what motivates us,” Musk wrote in an internal email Tuesday. “What drives us is our mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable, clean energy, but we will never achieve that mission unless we eventually demonstrate that we can be sustainably profitable. That is a valid and fair criticism of Tesla’s history to date.”

you are a thorough person, we can tell from your posts. So once again how can we not think you purposely did not post the rest of it or not taken it into account?

    Re: Tesla Roadster

    Easy to solve.

Put pressure sensors on the steering wheel, if there is no pressure on the wheel the autopilot disengages.

Another way is to use eye tracker, if the driver is not looking forward the system disengages.

Better that than getting stuck with government imposed weird sounds, say all electric car has to produce an ice cream truck sound when driving.

That vehicle is more impressive than one would have ventured for Mercedes efforts.  Note that it too is a crossover as it is much easier to build a larger battery pack for range in this type of vehicle.  Plus, it doesn't hinder the efforts that crossovers are the hottest sector of the auto market.

Agree that the Mercedes looks really appealing. That segment with the Merceds EQ and Audi E-tron will sell like hot cakes. Only disadvantage with the SUV-type is that the drag is higher and hence need bigger battery (cost more) for equal range. Quite some difference in range between a Model X and S for instance. Specifically at motorway speeds where the X can consume as much as 30-40% more energy than the S. Both EQ and the E-Tron will also suffer in the range department driving at motorway speed or faster compared with a sedan. If equipped with bigger wheels it will suffer even more. An X with 22" consumes about 15-20% more energy than an X with 20".

Personally, I suspect that the Audi e-Tron will be the market leader in volumes. The installed base of existing Audi (diesel) owners is a massive advantage...

    Re: Tesla Roadster

That Mercedes concept makes the X look like a supermodel, which we all know it is not...

all the while TSLA shares just made a new 9 months high at 364... we can clearly now say that the short squeeze is in full force, 50% rally from the 244 April low. And all of a sudden these $1bio convertible bonds expiring early next year don't look so problematic anymore... That’s the problem with TSLA and with high volatility stocks in general: many important aspects can change weekly.

Can this high price be sustained till maturing date? That's the billion dollar question.
