To flippers :  I was confirmed yesterday that Porsche does indeed follow the history of your car. If you sell it within a short time ( I don't have the time frame ) you are put on a black list and should not be able to get any other special or GT  model in the future.

How can they know the car is sold? They will know only until the new owner brings it back for service?

If the dealers knows about it , he has to report it . And Porsche follows the VIN numbers .

I am sure there are ways around it , as always, but one needs to know that there is a control and if your name comes up, you will be put on a black list .

In Germany it is regulated through the Bundeskraftfahramt. They report the owner, this is needed for callbacks and so. I had once a bad experience with an Audi, which I bought over my company and sold it two weeks later to a friend. Two month later Audi asked for me to return the company discount I have received for the car. Lucky we have arranged it without paying anything back.

I have asked Porsche how long should I hold my GT3RS and they said, 6 month.

He was at the Spa event I went to a few weeks back. I initally dismissed his 'interesting' looking car, but he was certainly motoring..! Impressive.. Aparently the aero bits work very very well..

Modern VW/Audi 2.0 Turbo motors are commonly tuned for more power.  For example, my daily driver 10 year old Mits Evo has a 2.0L with 425hp and 435 ft-lbs and it's a conservative tune on the stock turbocharger.

Lots of headroom in some of these little turbo motors...

Actually, the list is blue or green Smiley...I don't remember anymore but yes, it is actually a black list.

It is pretty easy to follow the VIN and yes, dealers are required to report stuff like that, same as tuning for example.

    Nige's Golf GTi Mk2 in a nutshell:

    • An eight-year ongoing project, built and engineered by Nigel Pinder
    • Stripped, caged and circa 1000kg
    • Front splitter, flat-floor and proper rear diffusor
    • Turbocharged ABF 2-litre on megasquirt, running around 300hp!

That's a pretty old Golf (Mk 2 started in 1983).  Weight is nice, but power is pretty modest.  Nice that is seems so well sorted and driven.

Yes, I was a bit surprised at the relatively conservative power, too.. Maybe it's found a few more horses since the article was written..

    Grant,

Knowing you like light cars, you will appreciate what I saw today. I was in my 918 with the top off and a white thing chased me down through traffic. That white thing turned out to be a original 88 Carrera 3.2 CS! It has a Collector's plate on and those are only issued to original unmodified cars. Plus I talked to the owner while on a stoplight.

Cool!  I've actually had the rare pleasure of driving 3 of the 28 imported to US.  Fun cars.
