Could be lots of different reasons.
* Didn't like the car
* Wife hated the car
* (in the case of less depreciating models/marques) - sold the car before it depreciated [too much]
* Traded up
* Couldn't drive stick/changed to auto, bad knee, changed to auto
* Or even something as asinine as a change to a different color
and my personal favourite
* bought a cayenne

Some guys just buy the car, drive it for fun to see if they like it, to see if they want to keep it.
If they don't want it they trade it in. So they've spent the depreciation on a short term lease.
There're only a few miles on it because they don't have that much time to drive it with all the other stuff going on in a bizzy cash-rich lifestyle.
