    Garage integrated in the house

What a perfect way to integrate a beautifully designed car into a beautifully designed house!
This house is called the T-Bone and is located near Stuttgart.

OK, now I know what house I want!

Re: Garage integrated in the house

its absolutely phenomenal, no doubt I would like to live there

There is a little article of thise house with the same 911 in crhistophorus magazine....

What could be the price of it??, I guess it wont be THAT expesive right???, its not that big, and its design is "simple"......

Re: Garage integrated in the house

Although it looks great in photo's, it is not practical or safe in reality. Just wait until you start choking on the fumes or you pull out when someone else is still sleeping. Not to mention the oil and gas smells constantly being given off.

You don't want to live in a garage.

Re: Garage integrated in the house

Cost-wise? Big glass panels will be a killer; especially if building codes (for energy conservation) are strict. Lack of interior mouldings, stonework not cheap.

House is small, unless I were a _raging_ car nut I think I'd keep that interior space for other uses. Would build a similarly architected outbuilding for cars (and storage).

Car smells, especially when hot. I sure hope the "garage" has ventilation.

I get the idea, very interesting and I respect it. BUT, if you put a Ferrari in there it would be bad. If you put a non-remarkable car in there, like a volvo, the whole glass garage/display case goes out the window.

When you are not home everybody knows it.

Niiiiice looking what they've done with "common" materials: very exciting this kind of archirecture.

Obviously these people do not need more space and if they would need, the 'garage' can easily become another room .
I would imagine that the ventilation is strong in there. Just leaving the garage door open for a minute or two will clear the exhaust fumes.
I would not have it, but I like the way this whole house and idea is done.

That's not true anymore. I've just built a house with more or less the same materials (wood and glass, just the basement is made out of concrete). The insulation of today's glass is almost as good as that of concrete or any other material. We've got the "Minergy" label for our house, which means that it reaches a certain standard in terms of energy consumtion...

However, I do not have a garage made out of glass (but that hasn't prevented that almost everybody in our small town knows what's in there). In a town with just 400 citizens, a Porsche is still highly exclusive.

Re: Garage integrated in the house

Very bold design, at least it would be, if built here. I really like alot of the design features. Very modern, efficient and simple use of space.

As some of you might know, I'm building my own house and alot of the features I will have are similar to what this house contains.

Re: Garage integrated in the house

very nice design! I agree with the large windows.. those could be a bit smaller or just vertical slots or something.

Not very practical but indeed its been a long time dream of mine. As ill be an architect someday. i can asure you i have a better set-up Might post some sketches later on!

    thanks for the post!

I hope so. It's _disgusting_ to make people live in caves because of glazing allowances. We had to buy triple paned, argon filled, thermal-isolated large units. Very costly. Build. Dept would not let us use available commercial glass. This was about four years ago. Was a major expense. UGH!

Re: Garage integrated in the house

This is a typical design feature which looks good in a magazine but is preposterous in the real world. I would never want the inside of my garage to be exposed that like, neither am I phased by it's minimalistic nature. I want to be able to hang Porsche posters on the wall, have winter tires stacked in the corner, cabinets and shelves hung up, + I want privacy.

Re: Garage integrated in the house

Well, that's true. I might have a split garage: One part for the tires etch, and one part in which the car is. That part can have a glass wall On thi inside, so you can see the car from the living room. Put some curtains in front of it, so you can take it out of sight when the car is dirty... I'd know how to build my house around my 911! ;-)

Re: Garage integrated in the house

The house is mentioned in one of the last Christophorus. The build cost of the house were app. Euro 300.000,-- (source Archit. Magazin). In fact it's a very simple construction.

Re: Garage integrated in the house

Geez, what about that "glass house and throwing stones" thing?

There is the guaranteed eventuality that one mentally-ill miscreant passerby will be insulted by the owner's good fortune and his apparent arrogance to display it... .

It's almost an _invitation_ to vandals because it's so strikingly unusual.

Re: Garage integrated in the house

    I want THAT!!!!

Re: Garage integrated in the house

I wonder if trading the 911 for a Carrera GT would qualify as a tax deductable home improvement expense?

If you fit the CGT with a small microwave and an electric cooler it might be enough for it to qualify for a deductible as a motor home.

Re: Garage integrated in the house

Some of you are quite funny.

To clarify some things, there shouldn't be a difference between a regular and this glass-paned garage in terms of air circulation. If one intends to steal a vintage Porsche, might as well get their hands on the expensive interior furniture. That does not make sense to me, furthermore one can draw the curtains at each glass panel, as to see below.

The interior looks rather traditional, I could imagine the client has a certain affinity to clean and geometric "teutonic" design. I see the Barcelona chair in these wall cushions. Some of the elements, as the kitchen, feature a somewhat retro-futuristic design elements.

Re: Garage integrated in the house

    It ____IS____ very nice.

I wonder though, the car and house would be owned by a special person.

Like this guy I know who owns a Concordia yawl (exquisitely beautiful classic wooden sailboat) and he _insists_ on doing his own yearly varnish work to perfection.

Not _THAT_ unusual except when you catch him doing the varnish (sanding, prepping, brushing, cleaning) he's wearing a crisp white shirt, pressed jeans and nice penny loafers.

    No kidding.

Re: Garage integrated in the house

Fantastic garage, need a double though to keep wifie happy !
