Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

    nice!

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

I wonder where it will stand vis-a-vis the Scuderia...

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

    2+2?

Same price as 430 scud, same engine as current 430... Ferrari is finally getting smarter. 4,000 cars per year, get ready to see the used 430 prices plummet, especially the spider.

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

I hope the price tag is an error, its way too expensive if they target 4.000 units per year....

I thought the Dino was going to be in the 120.000 Euro - 130.000 Euro range, as an entry level ferrari....

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

It is going to be an entry-level Ferrari. The 430 successor is going to be more expensive.

Aston makes 7000~ per year and 30% of those are DB9s, so judging by how deep the Ferrari waiting lists are, there will be plenty of customers for this niche.

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

it's a different animal... and historically 2+2 front-engined ferraris don't have good resale value... it will be interesting to see...

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

Interesting to note that Ferrari is pushing toward 10K cars per year. They will have to stop at 9999 to avoid CAFE rules I suppose.

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

the price will be around Euro 140.000

Ferrari is owned by Fiat, so I guess they are in the same situation as Porsche+VW

The car will be a dog but will sell because most want the opportunity to buy the 430 replacement. The dealer will tell many first time Ferrari buyers if you want an opportunity to buy the 430 replacement you MUST buy this car.

The 149 will be heavy because of the retractable hard top and 2+2. Add in that is a front engine which is under powered you have a MB SLK. A sorry excuse for a Ferrari.

This car is good for Ferrari and its dealers. It is bad for present Ferrari owners.

The Scuderia will have the upper hand. Like already stated the F149 will be a 2+2 with folding hardtop. In other words it will be more of an exotic boulevard cruiser than full blooded sports car.

With such practicality it will easily be scooped up, especially by those who simply want to own a Ferrari. Nouveau riche folks will be all over it. This will be a volume seller. This is as close as Ferrari will get to offering a daily driver.

I was told by my dealer that it will be priced at US$180k.....that's about Euro 120k.

IMO, it will not affect F430 prices......it's a different concept. It will be heavier and slower and won't have the driving capabilities the F430 has.

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

Price in EU cca 160k euros afaik.

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

This car was developed by Maserati engineers as a Maserati model . Luca di Montezemolo rejected it, but when he " sold " Maserati from Ferrari "ownership" to their common parent FIAT, he kept this platform and authorized turning it into this upcoming car called the : "Dinoratisellasaferrari "

Maserati engrs are reportedly seething, for good reason.

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

    They key will be weight...

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

If this price is really above 160 k Euro , no way that I would buy it. I would prefer a nice, decent Turbo.

I guess we will see the car in the price range of an R8, anywhere around 120-130 k Euro . But lets see and wait!

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

Rumours in te UK have put it around teh Pounds100k mark (some a bit less) - any higher than this and I doubt they'll acheive the volumes they are supposing they are wanting to acheive - they've really got to be targetting a market they haven't got a model in yet - the alleged 2+2 format (the +2 has been said to be an option) would place it right into DB9 / high spec 911/TT (in the UK at least) just above the R8 / Vantage.

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

I'm not so sure about that.. The 599 is pretty fat but it quick as hell. Obviously this won't be that quick but I think it will "hide" its weight quite well.

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

this car will be a ferrari open to new customers

The Maserati Granturismo S is Pounds95k with a few options, the F149 will have a Ferrari badge, more bhp and a folding roof so expect north of Pounds120k.

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

Watch out AM!........Baby Pony is coming!!

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

Car buying in the 200k range just got a bit harder

However, I wonder what the "waiting list" situation will be?

Will this car be earmarked for people already "in the club"?

Or will it actually provide a stepping stone into the marque without having to buy used?

I wonder if a new customer will be able to step into a dealer and order one with a reasonable wait 6-12mo. without a premium or any sort of shennanigans?

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

At first, there will be a premium and cars will be sold to the old guard. But I expect this to fade after 6-12 months.

Re: Paris 2008, F149 IS OFFICIAL!

I hope the "old guard" shuns the car, that will give the rest of a chance to get in on the action.

Haven't owned a Ferrari yet, not a fan of the idea of jumping through all the hoops.

That sounds a lot more reasonable.

You got it right. It will basically be a more premium version of the Grandturismo. Kind of like the Jaguar XJ and AM DB9. Expect the F149 to be around 30-50k more expensive than the Massi. + any markup that greedy dealers will add on top.

Since it will be more of a glider I wonder if it will adopt the automatic transmission featured in the 4porte.
