    CD Storage Turbo/GT2 same location?

Could someone please post a pic of the CD storage ?

I just want to know it's location, because the DVD Navi is located under the hood, but I couldn't find the CD Storage on my friends Turbo.

Re: CD Storage Turbo/GT2 same location?

CD Storage? I assume you mean CD changer? There are two slots for two CDs in the glove compartment. The CD changer for 6 discs is located in the trunk along with the DVD navigation drive.

Re: CD Storage Turbo/GT2 same location?

    Thanks Atomic

Just in case your question really relates to the GT2, the CD changer is not available on this model.

    just want to know...

    what about iPod?

and is it possible to order iPod interface but without PCM in the car?

No iPod interface is available from the factory, either with or without PCM. You can play MP3 CDs in the PCM head unit though, if that helps.

Re: CD Storage Turbo/GT2 same location?

Are you kidding me? I think Porsche now offers an iPod interface from the factory but it's pretty rudimentary because it works through the radio system. I think that aftermarket iPod solutions work the best.

Re: CD Storage Turbo/GT2 same location?

I'm pretty sure this nicely appointed and immaculate TT trunk belongs to one of us Rennteamers.

That's the CD changer on the left if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, the cd storage which I was referring to turned out to be in the glove box right behind the users manual

I'll forward this pic to my friend

I have heard that too, so that's mean I could order the iPod interface without PCM?

Re: CD Storage Turbo/GT2 same location?

Yes, the iPod interface works with the GT3/987 standard radio.

AFAIK it's not available from the factory on the GT2 but it's probably an oversight.

If it's just an FM transmitter it sucks anyway. Not to mention it's illegal in many countries.

Re: CD Storage Turbo/GT2 same location?

yea i have heard thats just an audio input and that's it, do you know whats the price?

Re: CD Storage Turbo/GT2 same location?

Sorry, I don't know the Japanese price. It's not on the Japanese Car Configurator either. Are FM transmitters legal at all in Japan?

The Dension Gateway 500 is the better choice anyway.

Re: CD Storage Turbo/GT2 same location?

    thanks for the help, Groom.

    what about in USD?

and the aftermarket interface is ok without PCM?

Re: CD Storage Turbo/GT2 same location?

I don't know the US price of the Porsche adapter. It's about EUR 400 here from the factory.

According to the Bumperplugs website, the Gateway 500 works with the CDR-24 system too. And it only costs USD 475, so why choose the Porsche crapdapter?

Re: CD Storage Turbo/GT2 same location?

you are right, thats totally rip off!

Re: CD Storage Turbo/GT2 same location?

You have to understand that such features are useless to Porsche engineers. Why listen to an iPod when there's better sound in the back? Why invest in unproven technology when CDs work? They bowed to marketing pressure and cobbled together an adapter, but it was clearly not a top priority in Weissach.

I hope the next-generation PCM has genuine iPod and Bluetooth support though!

I agreed about iPod/Buletooth aren't what Porsche engineers looking for. So what about DSG/PDK? I hate to say this, but Porsche is really lacking in performance too. They keep earning MONEY because they put their Porsche crest on SUV etc.

A simple FM transmitter does not qualify for the name "iPod interface" in my view, since it does not allow you to access the playlist thru the PCM display.
