Up Hill, Sixth Gear, 1900RPM, 48 mph! Wow.
Had an uphill grade today (not sure how to quantify it). Threw the TT into sixth to see what would happen. Did 1900 rpms and 50 (48? 49?) mph.
Car has zero trouble sustaining speed, no huffing and no puffing.
Just a possible reminder that alot of us guys are probably cruising with waaaay too many RPM. The engine has alot of torque.
Is this true? Our cars have six gears just to go fast around a track; to put power down onto road at a maximum rate using engine's output curve the the max.
Otherwise there's no "need" to row thru all the gears on the street. For example you can go from first to third to sixth on a freeway entrance: no problem. I often skip second gear in getting around the neighborhood!
Yes, I discovered this a long time ago; but today it amazed me again.
Thoughts, corrections, clarifications welcome.
