AMG GT-C surprise addition to my garage

I was looking for an addition to my R8 and 911 Turbo. First I was thinking of buying the new Aston Martin DB11 V8, but after seeing the car in Geneva I was a bit disappointed. At the Mercedes stand was a AMG GT-R (in white) really nice but also very extreem sporty looking. So I went looking for a AMG GT-R. If found 3 in my area, a green, dark gray and a silver gray, all in mat paint. When I was at the dealer of the silver grey one he had also a mat white GT C Edition 50 on stock. This was a nice car, I did not realize that an AMG GT C is almost the same like a GT R but a bit less extreem. After a test drive with both R and C version, i was convinced the C was my referred car.  The R is just too hard core, stiff suspension and a bit rough driving normal speeds.  I like also the fact that there where only 3 white cars imported to Belgium. The interior of de C edition 50 is really nice two color leather etc. The C had also the option fo ceramic discs. Now I have the 3 different driving concepts in my garage: front, middle and rear engine cars!

Great addition to the stable. Would be my pick of the AMG-bunch at the moment too.

Re: AMG GT-C surprise addition to my garage

Are you sure the AMG GT-C is front engine? If the front axle is placed in front of the engine it is called front-mid-engine layout. Mazda Miata, the Corvette, front engine Ferrari like 599, all are like that.

Re: AMG GT-C surprise addition to my garage

Lol you are correct ! But at least the engine is at least in front of the driver

Re: AMG GT-C surprise addition to my garage

    Nice Choice ! congrats wink

Re: AMG GT-C surprise addition to my garage

    congrats

Re: AMG GT-C surprise addition to my garage

That's amazing, beautiful car.... can you please let me know more about your experience when you drive it some more, as I'm also in the hunt for a low mileage pre owned AMG GT S and was wondering if the GT-C is worth the extra $$

Please let me know the Good & The Bad.... compared to the other two cars in your stable as they are also on my list... although the R8 would be ruled out due to the ridiculous excise tax we would have to pay on the NA here in cyprus....

Congrats!! I am always looking at the AMG GT series but it would be a replacement for my GT4, I guess this will not going to happen.

Re: AMG GT-C surprise addition to my garage

    Congrats, very nice!

I got my AMG GTR 3 weeks ago after owning 4 Porsche GT cars (including intensive track usage).

I am in love with the GTR so far, a great product with much higher perceived quality than Porsche. To be confirmed on track soon now!

Congrats "GoHardGT3RS"; will take my GT-C on the track also. My dealer will invite me on some events at SPA. Will see how it preforms compared to the R8. Took delivery of my car yesterday, did not driving much yet! At first have to get used to the loooong hood strange after driving 911 and R 8 for such a long time. Impressed by the torque at low RMP and of course the sound.

    Congrats guys.

I'm so happy to see that there are more MB fans now.

Your GTC is beautifully spec'ed love it! Enjoy!

Re: AMG GT-C surprise addition to my garage

Took delivery of the car last Friday. Strange feeling at first with this very long hood. Drives surprisingly smooth at normal driving, very good sound with the burmester audiosystem. Mercedes guide lines on first 1500 km are very strict so did not do much fast driving. But if you turn the knob to Race there is a lot of rumbling and other noise coming from the exhaust system. (@Christian R8 is still better). Will give some more info on driving once I put some miles on the car.

It definitely is...partially. Mercedes started to build cooler cars than in the past, it is no surprise that even 2x old YouTubers  buy Mercedes cars now (A45, E63, C63, AMG GT, G63). Mercedes is where BMW was 10 years ago...but slowly, they seem to take over from BMW.

Re: AMG GT-C surprise addition to my garage

Time for an update, in the mean time I have finished my running of the engine (pfff long time). The car really feels a bit like a mid engine car. I know the weight is almost 50/50 etc but stil because of massif engine in front your mind wants to tell you something different. I love to drive the car in R (race mode) because of throttle response and sound. The loud bangs in exhaust at upshifting makes you fell like driving a race car. But in the R mode the big difference with 911 Turbo and specially the R8 shows. In the R8 (race mode) and AMG GT (R-mode) the traction control is switch partially off. Accelerating out of a corner the AMG GT gets a bit tricky here; the pure traction is much less compared to the R8. This less traction makes it fun too drifting is easier and lower speeds. In pure exhaust sound I would still rate the R8 better, a NA is still the best. As far as I have been able, form driving on public roads, the 911 Turbo is still the easiest car to drive at high cornering speeds. Later this year I will be able to drive both the R8 and the AMG GT on the SPA racing track I will be albe to give a betere comparison of the both cars. All in all the AMG GT is a great car very nice and solid finish! The only problem I have is my wife like it a lot so the garage is sometimes empty indecision.
