Champion RS97 on new CTT, need your advises

    Hi all,

Put 20" Champion RS97 with Toyo Proxes ST 275/40/20 onto 2008 Cayenne Turbo. Wheels are "sticking out" way more than I expected, especially in the front.

Champion motorsport wheels are made for Porsches, and RS97 is for Cayenne.

I have enclosed some pictures. I need your opinion as to whether it is OK to keep driving on them, or forget about them and change back to stock wheels. Thanks.

Re: Champion RS97 on new CTT, need your advises

    Hi Tim,

Nice Alloys! indeed the looks are slightly compromised as the tyres are sticking out. Normally the CTT has 'fender' extenders (not sure how your call them) to accommodate for the wider tyres, I cannot seem to spot this on your car?

    Cheers,

    Mark

Re: Champion RS97 on new CTT, need your advises

Tim: They are good looking wheels but they do stick out too much. If you want good looking wheels that don't break your bank account TSW has a line called victor equipment, go to their website and browse their gallery.

Re: Champion RS97 on new CTT, need your advises

    They stick out too much...

Re: Champion RS97 on new CTT, need your advises

    Hi,

They do stick out far too much - I would get another type of wheel IMO.

Re: Champion RS97 on new CTT, need your advises

I agree with the guys. There are far much better wheels than the ones in the pics and suit the cayenne better as well as fit better.

Re: Champion RS97 on new CTT, need your advises

it would be easier to see when the tread is worn!

why not just get the porsche fender extensions like mark suggests? what does the dealer say?

Re: Champion RS97 on new CTT, need your advises

Nice car, the rims look smaller than they should because of the lip. I also have to agree with the others, they stick out too much.

Re: Champion RS97 on new CTT, need your advises

Thanks all for opinion. Champion made wheels especially for Porsche, I don't expect to have this problem...

I took some more pictures. I lowered the air suspension to the lowest "loading level". The stick-out now looks more acceptable. Looks like lowering the suspension may fix my problem. However the dealer said altering the suspension my affect my warranty. Thoughts??

    Tim,

Looks better now! however I would have a talk with the dealer about the fender extensions and this will solve the 'issue' permanently. I wouldn't mess with the suspension (i.e. altering any thing other than the set ups available)

    Best regards,

    Thanks Mark.

Yes it looks more "acceptable" with lowered suspension setting. I've checked with Champion Motorsport and they said the wheels are designed to be used with the wheel arch extensions. I will also look into those electric lowering module and hope that it won't affect my warranty.

That's a great idea. I wonder why some Cayennes come with the arch extensions and others do?

You get arch extensions when you go with the 21" wheels.

I didn't know that! Is that retofittable on the non-facelift CTT?

    Probably. It's just plastic.

Re: Champion RS97 on new CTT, need your advises

I got more info from Champion Motorsports. These 20" RS97 are made in 2 offsets, ET50 and ET20. I got the ET20 which are designed to be used with wheel arch extensions, which I've ordered and will put on the truck.

Re: Champion RS97 on new CTT, need your advises

    Tim,

Good choice as this will keep your options open with the suspension as well !

    Cheers,

    Mark

Re: Champion RS97 on new CTT, need your advises

Understood your choice but would Champion have swapped the wheels for ET50's? The car would look a lot cleaner without the arches. Just my opinion. dave

Re: Champion RS97 on new CTT, need your advises

Tim they do stick out some. If you want to lower your suspension without worrying about your warranty try www.adjustableairrides.com. I have them on my car and they work great. The wheels. I would go with the Rinnspeed 21 or 22 inch. Those wheels donot do ur car justice. Still a very nice looking car.

Re: Champion RS97 on new CTT, need your advises

    Thanks for opinion.

Will mount the wheel arch extensions on and then decide if lowering is needed. Will post pictures in few weeks.

Re: Champion RS97 on new CTT, need your advises

    Hi Guys,

mounted OEM wheel arch extensions onto my CTT and it has solved my problem. Here are a few pictures taken with CTT parked at "loading level". The next mod will be some kind of lowering module, still undecided which one to pick...
