Grant:Hmm, not sure what to think then...
Do you really need that last 10-15% grip for the Evo when you have a Porsche for high-perf driving?? As per my post above, I decided I don't, and so have tires that I can push right until there is snow that stays (eg. late November to early December) - obviously you are the driver and have to decide as per your uses.

To the defense of the PZero: I drove a R8 with the Pzero yesterday and switched to my car with the Michelin Cup 2 and the steering precision is better on the PZero, it is pretty noticeable. The Cup 2 offers way more grip, especially if it gets temperature. Only advantage of the worse steering precision seems to be that the Cup 2 is much calmer in the steering than the PZero on bad roads. That (steering) nervousness on bad roads is completely gone.

Carlos from Spain:Its a different PZero than in the 991 though.
True but I have to admit that I like the PZero N1 quite a lot (I have it on my GTS Cab right now). On dry pavement definitely a very good tire but a bit tire pressure sensitive (I think).

So, I ended up getting the new 4S Michelin for my Evo and in order to be sure I don’t freeze them I bought a second set of wheels. So, I have snow tires on one set of wheels and 4S on the other and I can change them in 30 min at home as needed.
Perfect solution for OCD car guy

Since I provided the link to the video, I will also translate some bits…
Cup 2 and Pilot Sport 4 both feature dual-compound treads, inner part providing grip at lower temperatures (PS4 from single digit degrees of Centrigrade), outer tread designed to withstand higher forces and temperatures during cornering. Of course , PS4 more usable for street driving including rainy conditions, due to compound and tread pattern.
Cup2 closer in performance to racing slick than to PS4S, 7% bigger contact patch over PS4.
Tread depth of 8 mm (PS4), 5,4 mm and 20% more tread than 1st gen (Cup2), 2 to 2,5 mm of usable compound on racing slick.

I had a good run in the mountains with the PS4 in full rain conditions. Amazing performance. Clearly they are great on the dry but on wet roads, I was blown away (vs PS2)...Super happy with those tyres.
