DBS in Hockenheim faster than a 997 Turbo!

    From SportAuto:

1.13,5 min with normal tires (turbo with normal tires 1.13,7)

Re: DBS in Hockenheim faster than a 997 Turbo!

    More facts:

    Acceleration:

    0-100 km/h: 4,6 sec
    0-200 km/h: 13,8 sec

    Slalom: 67,1 km/h

    Breakperformance: from 100km/h: 34,1 m

Re: DBS in Hockenheim faster than a 997 Turbo!

That seems to be quite typical of late Astons. The V8 Vantage is also not a great straight line accelerator, but seems to have great balance for great track times. Now it looks like the DBS repeats this.

Re: DBS in Hockenheim faster than a 997 Turbo!

BTW, DBS tires were Pirelli P Zero The Hero(standard ones also on Audi R8).
Excellent test results by Sport Auto.

Re: DBS in Hockenheim faster than a 997 Turbo!

Not good at all for a car costing 60% more than the Turbo. Maybe if James Bond was behind the wheel it could be faster.

You are right in a way. It's all a matter of priorities like most things in life.

Yes, but the car is strictly limited craft production vehicle and the styling inside and out is a work of art.

Sometimes a little cost bump is justified. But that's up to you. Cost is what you pay, value is what you get.

For this kind of money wouldn't you rather be in a Ferrari 599 though? It has all the above advantages plus performance to match. No one could argue with you about your choice.

Re: DBS in Hockenheim faster than a 997 Turbo!

Some years ago an AM was an exclusive and stylish car for lovers of exotic automobiles. Today, AM offers competitive performance cars with excellent design and sound (and of course: lots of style). AM has made significant progress indeed

While I do agree with you, I sincerely doubt that anyone who can afford a DBS actually cares about who agrees or doesn't agree with them .

Re: DBS in Hockenheim faster than a 997 Turbo!

Considering 599 prices are $400-500k here, the DBS is a bargain.

Seriously the the DBS is overpriced compared to the DB9, as the DB9 is to the V8. But overpriced is only in the eye of the beholder, you can afford it or not.

Actually, no. I think the 599 is not very attractive. A very good car, yes - but for some reason, when I see it in profile I see a C5/C6 Corvette. I don't want to think Corvette after I stroked a $300K+ check.

And once you get into this sort of stratospheric price range, performance becomes irrelevant -- it's more an emotional/stylistic statement for 85% of the buyers because only 15% will ever fully (or have the skill to) exploit the extra performance benefits.

Re: DBS in Hockenheim faster than a 997 Turbo!

Gorgeous car, there is nothing I don't like about this car. Performance wise it is close to the TT while off the line the TT will beat it. Nevertheless they are 2 different class of cars. The DBS will depreciate more than the TT but one who can afford the $275K Sticker should not care

Re: DBS in Hockenheim faster than a 997 Turbo!

Over here the DBS is about $470k list anf the 599 is about $620k. They are not even in the same price point. DBS is halfway between DB9 and 599, and not that much more than the Gallardo and 430...

Re: DBS in Hockenheim faster than a 997 Turbo!

    ^^
Yupp correct. I believe it retail for the more or less the same price as a GT2.
