Cayman and Boxster special editions - as with all mass manufacturers these come out to shift the current models just before major changes arrive - and then the residual values of these editions plummet indicating they aren't that special after all. 
I remember the 996 Anniversary that came out just before the 997 and no-one bought them!

Edition 1, does it mean that Porsche will have other editions of this car later ?

The 345HP engine was available to all 996s as an optional extra in the form of powerkit either from factory or retrofit. The anniversary model also came with LSD that was also in the options list.

The X51 power package was available on all the regular 996s throughout the model run.
Also the Turbo S that came out in 2005 was no more special than a regular Turbo with X50 and a lot of options.
So Add the Turbo S to my list of useless special editions (that didn't stop me from buying one though
)

You are one of the few 997tt owners that would be willing to make such a statement. How is the Caymand S PD1 better than the Turbo?

It just has a real delicacy in all areas that the TT lacks. I am sure lower weight helps. TT gearchange is tough from 1-2 and spoils experience, power delivery is less satisfying although the turbos deliver a bigger punch. Of course PCCB are superior. Sound in PD1 is great - got the PSE. Steering is more communicative. In short it is just a lovely car. Interesting also to see that when we drive together through town all eyes are on the PD1!
