    GT3 front bumper on 997 ??

    I really like the look of the 997 GT3 front bumper....it looks sooo more agressive than the standard item. Will it fit my 08`Targa 4 ?? Has anyone seen it live ??

    Not seen it live but several people have fitted the GT3 bumper on various 997s over on six speed.

    I think that if you can buy an aero kit from Porsche, it must have the same mounting points.
    On the other hand, I also think that each of the Porsche models is beautiful in its own sense and wouldn't mess with a good thing. Do you really want a Targa with a GT3 front and regular rear?

    Yes you can buy the aerokit and fit it on

    but RSjo, they (p-dealers) do not recommend it because and I quote "It would disturb the aerodynamic balance between front & rear"...

    Well if you plan to mount the front bumper mount the rear as well. Do not leave things messy

    Most people comment that the GT3 front lip will frequently scrape in normal day to day driving. I am aware that the GT3 set up is lower altogether, but still installing the GT3 front bumper will make everyday life more difficult with your Carrera. just my 2 cents...

    I got the Aerokit Cup on my 997S and its scraping all the darn time, the GT3 front bumper cannot possibly be any worse. I was also interested in fitting the GT3 front bumper, would it really affect the aerodynamics though? I mean the car does have the same dimensions as a 997S right?

    Side question, I know the GT3 front bumper has a lower lip that can be easily replaced in case it breaks/bends due to frequent ground contact etc.. the aerokit cup seems to have a similiar front lip, is it also as easily replaceable?

    I jumped in it today and ordered the original GT3 front. I looked at an aerokit equipped Carrera 2 in the shop and it looks the same exept it lacks the black vent in front of the hood.....(which I think looks great, especially on a white car) I could choose between the standard GT3 lip or the slightly deeper RS lip and went for the standard item. Hopefully it wont scrape everywhere. The Targa 4 is quite wide at the rear so I will start with the front and see if it looks Ok. If the rear looks to small I will change the rear later........

    My local Porsche center will charge app. 2200 us$ complete.
    I believe the RS rear bumper will cost about the same. I am looking for a conversion for the exhaust to get the center exit, but it seems Ihave to get a complete sportsexhaust to get this done A bummer when I just paid extra to get the original sports exhaust......

    Maybe I will just visit my local exhaust guy and see if he can work some magic with some pipes and a welder...
