Oh no!  Hope that repair is not too difficult...

Update on the Engine-oil-loss of my friends .2 GT3

They could fix the problem without removing the engine from the car. After removing the rear bumper and the exhaust system the reached the two screws of the crankshaft-housing and replaced the O-rings under them.

The car was ready on friday afternoon and back on the street. Smiley

Next saturday we will be on the track an test it hard...Smiley

    Thanks for the update!! Smiley

Porsche 911 GT3 Touring in green...

    Smiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

I like the green, but I just don't get why anyone would order it on the touring with black wheels, I thought the whole thing with the touring was an opportunity to take away attention with the big wing and configure it more low key for that type of customer Smiley

The GT3/GT3RS however are perfectly suited in any bold color. Lizzard is fantastic even though guards red with gold wheels is my personal favorite right now kiss

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

The green is Lizard Green? I don't think so. I thought it was only reserved for the RS.

I would take the Touring in black as it would be a car that I would like to drive often, like a DD , without grabbing attention .

On the other hand I would alway go wild on the color of  an RS  . The GT3 being in between .

Eric, this is exactly my plan... if I get the allocation! Touring in stealth mode for a daily driver, cannot imagine a better alternative

Agree. If you have to have the LG get a RS. Saw a black touring in Zurich in Fri and it looked amazing in the flesh but not obvious to non car guys what it was (which is part of the point)!

Smiley If I would not be stuck with my curent line of 911's I would definitely go for a Touring .

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

As Viper has been my fav colour I‘ve chosen it for my Touring and I couldn‘t be happier. It not only puts a smile on my face when driving it as it is such a vibrant colour it also seems to do the same with others, be it bikers, other drivers and especially kids.

I have now covered 1000km and still adhering to APs break in instructions. I did a 4 hours trip around the Danoube valley/ Swabian Alp and the car is brilliant. The engine pulls much stronger in the lower rev band than the old 4 litre in the RS, can‘t wait the fully open it up once break in has been done. The manual gearbox really adds an element of engagement, with the PDK shifts were always perfect and executed anywhere . The new manual combines best of both worlds, it‘s a kind of manual PDK with the sport function engaged. The non lift shifting really takes time to get used to as you have to overcome your long trained muscle memory. The sound when doing it is absolutely brilliant, the same with downshifting, especially when delaying downshifts to second, it really bangs awesomely.

Last but not least a big advantage, at least psychologically, is the narrower body compared to the RS,it makes easier especially with oncoming traffic.

    can‘t stop grinning

    Mike

I fully agree, I think the GT3 Touring should be specced in less "in your face" colors but to each his own I guess. Smiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

    Hi All,

Thanks for all the kind words of introduction from everyone.

Gauss, I have owned a 981 Cayman GTS (lovely car) but no, the plate is a temporary 9 day factory collection one, purely co-incidental configuration - now on a boring U.K. plate, I’m afraid.  Although I do get to keep the German plates, as  a memento.

DaveGordon: yes, took in a couple of low-ish Austrian passes (weather misty & rainy at the time).  As I was running the car in we took a non-autobahn route up from Garmisch, via Rothenburg Oder Tauber - Worms - Mosel Valley - Xanten - Rotterdam ferry home, over four leisurely days: brilliant.  In many ways, driving on ‘normal’ winding German country roads was more satisfying than traffic choked autobahns & high passes.  Boy, do the Germans do flowing smooth tarmac?  Yes, they do!  Up to 1200 miles now, so nearing full run-in - yippee!

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

Cool.. got to love the Germans for their roads.. was on the edge of the Black Forest on the bike on Saturday.. biking Mecca..

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3 (2017)

I too (mountain) bike around Garmisch area, have done for >15 years; just love the place: literally hundreds of really great routes for all technical abilities.

The two exterior shots of my car where taken in the area above Garmisch, between Mittenwald & Klais: Schloss Elmau, where Porsche sometimes host corporate jollies.  How do I know that?  I have dubious honour of been denied entry to the Schloss when Porsche was holding a meeting there!  Mind you, I had turned up with a mate - both of us in a scruffy, sweaty, smelly & dishevelled state near the end of a day ride, only wanting a cooling radler.

I've done a ‘Transalp’ from Garmisch to Lake Garda via Mount  Tremalzo: fantastic mountain bike route.  Planning another different one for next year, if I’ve still got the energy to carry the bike to the top of some of the less accessible tops that feature on a lot of the routes.  Mad!  Yes, but great when you stop, as they say Smiley.
